Had a great stay, amazing food and company. Very relaxing and will definitely be coming back!

This was a return visit for us and we were very happy to see that the excellent standard has been maintained. Ian, Maralyn (and Charlie) welcomed us, and our English relative, with genuine warmth. On each of our three nights we enjoyed dinner with our hosts, super food and excellent local wines. Charming rooms, lovely views, clean and comfortable but what remains outstanding is the dedication Ian and Maralyn have towards making your stay as enjoyable as possible.

We were looking for a relaxing two days before we moved up to the Bay of Islands. Well, we certainly found the ideal spot. This is a fabulous country lodge run superbly well by the owners Ian and Maralyn. Maralyn beautifully presents the food and Ian is an excellent raconteur and host at the evening dinner. The rooms are delightful with spectacular views over the mountains and down to the sea and in the evening the sky makes you feel you really are “dancing with the stars”! There is a spa on site and short local walks and do not miss a visit to the oldest pub in New Zealand in Puhoi. Finally you will adore Charlie who really runs the place!

We needed a get away.
Just for one night. Out of Auckland, but with a bit of luxury.
We found it.
Maralyn greeted us - a warm lady who made us feel at home immediately. It was a lovely welcome and we had coffee on the deck overlooking the lovely native garden. Charlie also popped out to say hi as well. If you are not a dog person, dont fret, he is loveable, not to excitable, and very plesant company.
We were then got a tour and were left to settle in. We did our bit searching around Puhoi, and then headed back to the Lodge to have a very relaxing spa (jacuzzi). Then we read on our private balcony until 7 when we went through for drinks.
We then met Ian who was equally as charming as his wife - and makes a G&T just how I like it.
Maralyn then made us the most yummy dinner. I wish I could have eaten more. And the Ransom wines were nice - I particularly liked the Mahurangi - mmmmmm.
It is funny, but looking back on it a few days later, it felt more like we were spending sometime with friends, rather than staying at lodge. It was just what we needed. Would highly recommend.
