The weekend we were in Amsterdam, everything in the city center was booked or very expensive. The hotels available were very old and beat up and yet wanted a lot of money. So I expanded my search area and found this hotel. This was THE BEST hotel we have ever stayed at in Europe and we have stayed at over 20 hotels.
Don't be scared by the fact that it's not in the heart of Amsterdam. This hotel is close to the airport but they have a free shuttle to and from the airport that runs twice an hour till midnight. So to get to the city center (central station), you just take the free shuttle to the airport (10 mins) and then a train from the airport to central station (15 mins - 4 euros). If you are visiting Keaukenhof Tulip gardens, then just go to the airport and take the train/bus from there.
The rooms are extremely large and spacious and the bathroom is quite nice. The bed is really comfortable and best we've ever had in a Euro hotel. 42 inch TV with 5-6 English channels. Pool and spa areas are quite nice too and the lobby is great. Staff and shuttle drivers are quite friendly. The hotel also has free fruits available in the lobby (green apples and oranges)
There are 2 bad things about this hotel.
1. WiFi internet is terribly unreliable and can be slow at times in the room....works fine in the lobby.
2. breakfast is pricey and the restaurants in the lobby are expensive too. No grocery store nearby where you can pick up a bite to eat. So we would take the free shuttle to the airport to eat at night if we were hungry and you can buy whatever you need to snack on in Amsterdam and bring it to the hotel or pick it up at the airport and bring it to the hotel.
