“Great Anniversary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

This was one of the best places I have ever stayed. We had a wonderful view and they we able to allow my pets to join me as without that we would not have been able to spend the night. They are like our children and had nowhere for them to stay. It was only a one night thing but it was great. The dinner was wonderful and the service was great. The wonderful soak tub was great.

Tips to make it better: Turn on hte hat in the winter time was very cold when we walked in.

In the rooms that Allow pets you should spray carpets after each use. Charge me extra I'm used to it.

“My Birthday Present”

We walked in to our room to the view of a thin old duvet on the bed. A dirty looking carpet and grills missing on the fireplace showing all the wiring. Tried to make the best of the view and filled up the soaker tub but alas ran out of hot water. Took a shower later instead and it would not drain....raced to rinse hair before flooding of bathroom. Went for our included in the price dinner only to pay a surprise additional $70.00. This experience was far from deluxe and was very disappointing. We recommended painting, a new carpet, general repairs and new bedding before they get close to the feel of luxury.

“Best Anniversary Ever”

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Malahat Inn in October and it was the most amazing experience. We had the corner suite and the view was panoramic and beautiful. It is the first thing that will "wow" you the second you enter your room. We had the best dinner as well. You literally feel like "dining above the clouds" as our package suggested. I highly recommend the chateau briande for 2. Each bite of the steak is like a piece of heaven melting into your mouth. We had crab legs for an appetizer and they give you generous portions. Anyway, it was the best getaway for only a 20-minute drive away from our place. It really is a hidden gem that's not to be missed.

“Good value getaway from Victoria”

We came up on a Friday night for a little escape from Victoria and this place was good value. Yes there are lots of other nearby places to go but this place is only 20 min drive, has a great restaurant, amazing views, and very private. Good value at $169 a night and no two night minimum like Point no Point in Sooke. The restaurant food was fantastic and we loved the romantic soak overlooking the water from the two person tub. Yes the furniture is IKEA and you don't get the attentive service of a bigger inn but we slept well and the staff were friendly and left us alone. I would definitely go back for a night away again.

“Restaurant great hotel gross”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

I have now stayed at the Malahat Mountain Inn on two separate occasions. Ill start by saying the first time I stayed here in 2008 the place was clean and I had no real issues other than the maid not knocking on the door and proceeding to walking in on me and my at the time girlfriend having sex.
The second time I stayed there in 2011 the place was absolutely nasty. We didn’t arrive till the early evening and upon arrival we went straight for dinner at the restaurant. The service at the restaurant was great as is the view and food, I have never had an issue with the restaurant and quite enjoy eating there. After having a great meal we headed back to the room, over the next couple hours we started to wonder if are room had even been cleaned.
The first thing we noticed was that there was a small coffee spill on the counter that hadn’t been wiped. This didn’t really bother us as it was small but ill admit I was a bit surprised when you’re paying that kind of money a night it’s not something you would expect to find. At this point the hockey game was just coming on so we decided to turn on the game; the TV was a 19 Inch colour TV that looked like it was from the 90’s. Again this didn’t really bother us because we weren’t there to watch TV but thought it was out of place for a place that again you for the money your paying. When we sat on the bed we didn’t notice it being uncomfortable like others had stated and I sleep on a 2500 mattress at home, however the pillow cases had makeup all over them, this is when we first started to get a little pissed. We decided not complain and just turned the pillows over neither or us are ones to complain and I personally can’t stand whiners.
When I started to get really pissed was when we were about to take a soak in the Jacuzzi tube. When I went to fill it up I noticed there was a dirt line around the tub. I know they can be tough to clean once they stain however I put my finger nail up to it and a big chunk came off! I don’t think it had even been cleaned! At this point I was PISSED so I went to go talk to the front desk, this was a bit later (probably around 11pm) but as I walked up to the office I realized that the restaurant was now closed (the front desk is a small area in the restaurant) and that there was no one on the desk till the morning. PISSED I went back to the room. Well I was gone my girlfriend looked through the nightstand and under the bed. Under the bed there were pomegranate seeds, in one of the drawers in the nightstand there was a DILDO and BUTT RINGS! That was it! I wanted to leave right then! I forgot to mention it was also my birthday, my girlfriend is just finishing up school and had saved her money to take me here so after talking to her and taking a minute to think about it I deiced to stay (if I had paid for it I would have left at this point.) So we went to bed completely pissed; our night had been ruined!
In the morning we noticed the last thing that just put me over the top. Now I can’t guarantee that this wasn’t us but neither of us could comprehend how it could have been either of us. You would think after everything that had happened we would have checked under the sheets before we went to bed however being so pissed I guess we just didn’t think of it. Now we both slept on the right side of the bed, she’s a big snuggler and she was cramping me on my side of the bed (the right side); she was also wearing her booty shorts. When we woke up we noticed a few small crusty either blood or (wont let me use the S word) poo stains on the left side of the bed that did not look fresh, this was the side of the bed we weren’t sleeping on! It was on my girlfriend’s side of the bed and she was on my side cramping me on my side the whole night! She again also had her booty shorts on! We checked her for cuts and we could not find any, she also checked her nose to make sure it had not bled during the night there were no signs of bleeding. I was FRUSIOUS at this point I went straight to the office only to realize they still weren’t open it was 930am! We had to leave as I had an afternoon meeting. I called back later that day and I will say the person I spoke with was very understanding and apologetic however this did not make up for the stay. I did not call wanting anything as even if they offered me a free room I would not go back, however I was told I would receive 50 off my next visit! This means I would only have to pay well over a 100 or more to stay there again! I would rather stay at a traveler’s inn than go back there.
CONCLSUION: You would probably find a cleaner place in a hooker hotel that charges by the hour than you would here, and you would only have to pay 50 for the night! If you want to spend this kind of coin and don’t mind staying in Victoria go to: The Delta, The Hotel Grand Paifica, The Laurel Point Inn or the Empress. If you want to stay outside of Victoria stay at the Brentwood bay resort or head up island and stay at any one of the many resorts that you can find for the same price, this place is a joke!
