“"A Cut Above" Inn & Restaurant experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

My husband and I spent a weekend at the Merrill Inn with 2 other couples at the end of January. While our intentions to explore the region and stay active with snowshoing didn't work as planned, our accomodations, amazing food, sand-dune hiking and wine tasting ventures were more than enough to please and delight us. The inn, especially, was a great hit with us. We loved our room and decor, the staff were so professional and friendly, and the dining experience truly exceeded our expectations - two nights in a row, for all 6 in our party!! Pretty fine feedback from a bunch of Toronto "foodies" .
When we return to Prince Edward County again, we want to come back here!

Room Tip: Second floor , first room upon arriving on stair case landing was really lovely. 2 Double beds

“5 Star dining”

Had a wonderful dinner last night, in the intimate atmosphere of Merrill Inn dining room. We live in Picton, and are pleased to have such a superb restaurant at "home."
the meal was presented beautifully, and the innkeeper Ed was warm and chatty without being intrusive. Not inexpensive, but worth every penny!

“Snowshoeing w/out the snow: irrelevant when you stay here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Snowshoeing weekend without the snow: irrelevant when you stay at the Merrill Inn! We booked the inn months in advance for a snowshoeing holiday with two other couples, but the balmy weather didn't cooperate. That didn't matter at all because we were wined and dined at this charming, warm, delightful inn. Two wine tastings on Friday and Saturday nights from Closson Chase and Karlo Estates started off the incredible dinners each night. Chef Michael Sullivan has fine-tuned the menu to accommodate local fare with his own savvy flourish. Outstanding Ontario rack of lamb, wild BC salmon, and East Coast scallops were all faves. Our room (202) had a lovely sitting area with a fireplace, which served as a perfect arena for cocktail hour. The inn has its own yummy line of hand soaps, shampoos, and body lotions, which were imbued with lavender scent. Owner Edward was full of info about local wineries, hiking options, and general travel advice, and made us want to book the inn again in the spring, summer, and fall to take advantage of Prince Edward County in all its glory.

Room Tip: Room 202 has a fireplace!

“A perfect get away !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

My husband and I just came back from a perfect little getaway this past weekend. It started with a warm welcome and a wine and cheese offering from the Huff Winery (thanks Brian !) and then we had a wonderful 3 course meal prepared by Mike Sullivan - chef extrodinare ! The breakfast the next morning was more great food .. whew we were exhausted ! Thanks to all the staff and owner who couldnt be more welcoming and friendly.

Room Tip: choose a room on the west side as - it was abit "lively" with the Legion Hall next door
