HORRIBLE WEDDING NIGHTMARE!!! This was my best friends Wedding, and she is still so angry she rufeses to think about it. I WARN anyone thinking about having your Wedding here!!!.The bride checked in dressed and was told that she would have to carry all her luggage to her room. Most of the rooms were not ready for the rest of the wedding party who needed to get dressed for the ceromony. The Ceromony was nice and had a good view. But there was no seating or decorations as discussed. The wedding planner provided was running the show and did absolutely NOTHING. The original Tasting with the Chef was not what was served at dinner.Cold uncooked food was put into cold chauffing trays. One server showed up every 45mins.When the Bride and Groom complained to the incompetent wedding planner, she said she would talk care of it, but surprise surprise, did NOTHING. The Bride and Groom demanded to see the Chef , Manager, General Manager, and the Wedding planner completly dropped the ball again!!! The venue provided by the hotel was dirty and look as if the windowa had never been cleaned. The Service , ang Mgmt ruined this Beauyiful Day for two Beautiful People. COLD FOOD, and NO CHAIRS, and NO DRINKS or MUSIC. Give your heads a shake Black Rock staff, and Owners. At check out the happy couple was ridiculed by the Wedding Planner for the complaints they mad at their own wedding. She was defensive of the VERY POOR wedding she did nothing to fix. DO NOT GET MARRIED AT BLACK ROCK in UCLUELET!!! Your Welcome:)

While we appreciate all of the feedback that we receive from our guests, good or bad we feel that it is important to ensure that what is being shared accurately reflects what was offered to the guests and what the guests themselves requested, especially with weddings.
First to begin with the bride actually arrived the day before the wedding, she was then provided with a late check-out of 2PM (the start of the ceremony) so she could get dressed and ready for the wedding. Black Rock Staff moved the bags and personal items for the guest into their wedding night suite. The only other wedding guest room, was made available at 12PM, four hours before our guaranteed check-in time and 2 hours before the ceremony.
The Bride and Groom specifically only requested 4 chairs for the ceremony and did not want any additional decorations or flowers. We did however feel that it was important to do a little more then was asked by this wedding couple for the reception room and provided them with complimentary table centerpieces, room decor and complimentary personalized wedding favors. The Bride and Groom wanted to supply their own music but at the last minute realized it was forgotten so Black Rock supplied our own for their reception. We also provided complimentary cake cutting services to this party, because it was an expectation of the guests present that wasn't originally considered by the Bride and Groom.
There were three servers working this event of 35 people (including children) which should provide ample coverage. The Bride and Groom did not want to have a bar set-up in the space which did mean that any beverage requested beyond, wine, beer and pop would require a server to leave the area.
There wasn't any requests to see either myself (General Manager) or any other manager as I was in the building for another meeting and would have been readily available. I have been in conversation with Bride through email and this has not been mentioned. We both agree that there were some challenges with the food temperature but the service offering, venue and decor, chairs for wedding ceremony and music and such was as it was originally discussed and requested.
The Bride and Groom were not ridiculed for their comments regarding the food, the wedding planner shared some unfortunate issues that were experienced by other hotel guests related to this wedding.
Black Rock Oceanfront Resort has successfully hosted over 150 weddings since opening 3 years ago and as you can see from prior wedding posts the Brides and Grooms have left happy and feeling well taken care of. Our wedding/event planner has created many positive long lasting relationships with a majority of our Brides and Grooms, in fact she has a wall of fame in her office with all the wonderful cards and notes thanking her for all of her efforts.
