“Stylish hotel suited for couples, singles and families.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We have been staying at this location at least once a year since our honeymoon in 1987. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Casual dining at the pub, formal dining at dinner or buffet for breakfast and brunch: the menu is varied and the chef will create a meal if there are diet restrictions. The Japanese restaurant at the top of the hotel is a very popular destination even if you are not guests at the hotel.
We are now living in Europe and the Delta became our home for two weeks for Christmas and New Years. Little details, like the staff going to each room with warm cookies was a lovely touch. The hotel is continually updating their decor and amenities. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.
The pool, sauna, and fitness room are well maintained by courteous staff and the water slide, although available at designated times, is great fun for everyone.
The location is conveniently located close to the Toronto Zoo, the Scarborough Town Shopping Center and Fairview Mall. There is a 24 hour large grocery store withing walking distance, as well as a movie theatre, shops and restaurants. If you book a month or more ahead, online, you will qualify for exception discounts.

Room Tip: For an undisturbed sleep, ask for a higher lever and/or a room that does not have a balcony facing t...

“Excellent staff for a good stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

We stayed here for a hockey tournament (there were 7 teams at the hotel on the weekend!). The hotel itself looks pretty good when you walk in. Check-in was no problem and the staff was very friendly and helpful. As mentioned in a previous review, as part of a team, we had to sign an additional liability form. It was not a problem for us, as our team was well behaved.

I can't say enough about how helpful and friendly the staff is at this hotel. From the front desk, to calling for more towels to the room, to the servers and even the pool staff! Everyone on our team said the same thing and it made for a nice stay!

The hotel rooms are typical - some are showing their age a little, but are perfectly servicable. Two double beds, desk, nice flat screen TV, coffee maker (but no fridge) and a nice bathroom. The beds were quite comfortable.

The pool was excellent - especially the waterslide! The waterslide is not open all the time - ie. only time on Sunday is from 9-11am - so if that is an important part of your stay, check the times on the website. There is a little area for younger children with a small slide, so everyone was happy. The pool itself was pretty cool, as was the ambient air in the pool area. The kids were allowed in the hot tub (with supervision), so at least they could warm up. There were several lifeguards and they were great - especially Tom! He was friendly and very helpful. The first time we went swimming, they had run out of towels - Tom brought me (and several other guests) fresh towels when they were delivered to the pool area!

We enjoyed the restaurant brunch one morning - although the $16/adult and half price for kids was a little more than I would usually spend. It was excellent and our server was friendly and attentive. We also had room service a couple of times - an expensive option but fun. The food arrived quickly and again, was delivered by friendly staff.

The location is pretty good as you are near the Scarbourgh Town Centre and shopping on the east end.

Overall, a good hotel that was only made better by some great staff!

Thank you for your wonderful comments regarding your last hockey weekend with us. I have shared your kind comments with the entire Delta Toronto East team. We have just completed a full multimillion dollar renovation in all public areas and we are continuing these renovations in the guestrooms and corridors. The pool located at the Delta Toronto East is a great feature that continues to attract families and sport teams to the hotel. We have also just recently converted our pool to salt water. We look forward to the pleasure of hosting you and your team on your next hockey tournament in Toronto.

“Friendly service, great pool!”

Stayed for the weekend as part of a hockey team participating in a tournament. The hotel lobby is impressive; modern and upscale. The pool was a definite highlight with the water slide! Service was very very cheerful and friendly. The manager even knew when our hockey games were scheduled! Hockey teams are expected to sign an agreement, and I am happy about that. Too often, travelling hockey teams get painted with the same brush, and I have seen some very poorly behaved kids and parents who definitely make it necessary to put these agreements in place. That being said, a certain amount of discretion is required, and since we didn't see any security guards or other enforcement all weekend on any of the floors, it wasn't an issue with us. Our kids were definitely up and down the halls, most of us had the doors latched open and groups were congregated in each other's rooms. I am wondering if management has listened to the concerns posted by other TridAdvisor reviewers and responded appropriately.
Rooms had lovely updated decor, but only 2 double beds. Would be tight if you had more than 1 adult and 2 kids. There was a nice bay style window that we never realized looked out over highway 401, as we never noticed any noise at all! The bathroom was nice and big. There was no fridge, just a little coffee maker.

Had the buffet breakfast, which I found a bit pricey ($16 for an adult, 1/2 price for kids), but it was nice to have a personal omelet made (soooo good!) and a selection of hot and cold items.

As for location, it is easy access to the 401, and loads of shopping, restaurants etc close by.

“Security guards are a little much!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

If you are going to stay at this hotel for a team event i.e.. as part of a hockey tournament...pick another hotel. The security guards a a little much!!! They will treat you like children and there is a curfew for the adults. They make you stay in your room with the door completely shut. If you have the latch on your door to open it slightly they will push open your door, flip the latch back to close the door completely. I was reading alone in my room when one of the security guards did this to my door. Our kids were WALKING down the hall to another room and they were told to stop running and to go to their own rooms. We were told on several occasions we were not allowed to socialized in anyone else's room..are you kidding me!! Maybe this hotel should reconsider hosting team events!! For $125 a night
(team price) and $16.99 for breakfast and extra if you want a fridge and microwave this hotel is not worth the hassles! Very dated rooms, peeling wallpaper, stained carpets. On the good side, it looked like it had a nice pool...even though we didn't get to use it.

Room Tip: corner rooms are quiet

Thank you very much for your insightful comments. I have taken the time to share them with our security team. We do host many sports weekends throughout the year, and to ensure the control of noise for all of our guests, including our non-sporting guests we do ask our security team to monitor hallways and noise levels after 11pm to ensure all guests in the hotel enjoy their stay. We welcome teams & families throughout the year with our waterslide. Also the hotel is currently completing a complete rejuvenation process that will include new carpet, wallpaper, and guest room bathrooms. Again, I thank you for your insightful comments and hope you will reconsider having your next sporting weekend here at the Delta Toronto East.

“Don't forget your wallet”

The hotel was probably a top notch place in 1970. Unfortunately a new century has arrived. The rooms were small by modern standards and lacked some key amenities such as a mini fridge ( unless you pay $15.00 for one the size of a country mailbox ) or queen size beds. You will be safe though as the fire alarm works well when the kitchen burns toast. Front desk staff were very nice. The rest of the staff wasn't. Parking is in a dangerzone. Pool area was nice enough but the staff was either very overbearing or couldn't care less about the guests. There is lots of other hotels in the area which are much more reasonable and family oriented.

Thank you very much for your comments; I am disappointed to hear that you did not receive consistent service throughout your stay. I have shared your comments with our entire team. Our hotel is currently undergoing a rejuvenation process and will be replacing all the carpet, wallpaper, and paint throughout the hotel. Currently we have finished 4 guest floors, and all public spaces. Also we have already added 42 inch LCD flat screen TV’s & Ipod alarm clocks to every guest room. Again, thank you for your comments and we hope to see you again in the near future.
