“"In season" , but seemed like "Off season"”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2010

It was August....summer holidays when we stayed at Wigamog Inn in Haliburton, however, it seemed more consistent with "Off Season".
General Overview...Very unkept property....not swept, chairs not straightened from one day to another, cushions on chairs by pool left out in rain, beach chairs dirty, not enough garbage pails (especially on beach), no place for cigarette butts, so guests just dropped everywhere. No adult supervision....seemed just like no adult supervision.
Rooms....Missed us completely with maid service in our cottage on 3rd day (called 3 times and finally got towels), Cottage "The Pontiac" was badly in need of repair, particularily the bathroom, the door screens needed replacing, windows were dirty.
Dining Room....poor food quality for the price we paid, staffing issues...only one person for who dining room, inexperienced, advertised a Bar and Grill besides the main dining room, but it was closed down with no reason or notice given, dirty dishes left on porch outside our dining rm. window from one night to the next night (until we complained)
Filled out the comment form and followed up with an email after getting home, but not even a response.
Decided to never go back....hope they improved things since our stay.

It is unfortunate to hear about the past negative experiences (among some positive reviews) at the old Wigamog Inn Resort. The resort has now undergone renovations and has re-opened under new management as The Wigamog Resort Conference Centre & Spa. All of our Lakeside and Poolside Studios have been totally revitalized including new bathrooms with granite top vanities, new flooring, beds, and flat screen TV's. Some cottages have also been refurbished. Along with a new look and a new name, The Wild Moose Public House is open to all ages from 11-11 daily and features an all new 2,100 square foot deck overlooking Lake Kashagawigamog, a new bar and an event room ready to host your next occasion. It still has the same country charm and splendor of the Haliburton Highlands with a modern twist. We strive to make your experience at the Wigamog Resort a positive one and we hope to see you soon at The Wigamog Resort, a classic country resort revitalized!.

“horrible, on verge of bankruptcy”

Food came by truck from Sysco. Saw boxes being unloaded Chicken Kiev so guess what was served still frozen in the centre for almost 30 bucks a plate. Rooms filthy, leaked. Filthy, not from cleaning, that was fine but worn out rugs, stained comfortters, leaky toilets, leaky bar fridge. 1980's decorating, nothing matched. stairs broken, mould etc. Staff friendly but really run down.

“Ruined Our Wedding Plans”

My Fiance and I signed a contract with the staff to plan our wedding at Wigamog. We found the planning next to impossible as they never returned our phone calls or emails. The only way we could get anything done was to show up unannounced in hopes of locating the wedding coordinator, who informed me that us at one point that she is also the accountant and very busy.
Worst of all, we have discovered that the resort is now SHUT DOWN. There is no web site, the voicemails are full and no one is returning our emails. We paid a $1500 deposit for our wedding that is now six months away and no one is making any effort to contact us. STAY AWAY from this place.

“Extremely run down - not worth the money”

Haliburton, Ontario is a beautiful place any time of year, and autumn is no exception. The Wigamog Inn Resort is surrounded by beautiful trees, a crystal lake and all the wonderful things nature has to offer. But that's where the benefits end.
My husband and I stayed at the Wigamog for a wedding this past weekend and were horrified by the terrible condition the rooms were in. We knew that we would be going to a cottage-like "resort" so the antique furniture and dated window curtains didn't bother us so much. After all, that's cottage life. Yet, we were amazed that any business would rent out rooms with holes in the ceilings surrounded by obvious water leakage problems, holes in the bed sheets, stains covering the carpets, tiles that were sinking in the bathrooms, and a closet door that fell right off!
If we were only paying $50/per couple/per night we could've accepted the conditions. But at $150 a night (and that was a wedding party discount) we expected much, much more.
Now we don't want to write this review without stating that the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were also informed that new owners have recently purchased the Wigamog and plan on shutting business down for a month or so to renovate. Let's just hope that they can restore the Wigamog to its original beauty and comfort.
As of now, don't waste your money at the Wigamog - check out the Bonnie View Inn across the lake instead.

Don,t waste your money, Go to the BonnieView Inn across the lake!! This place may have been excellent at one time but the managers have let it get run into the ground!! Rooms old and dated unclean, sauna broken, out door pool no liner, hot tub no jets and gross! indoor pool area floors are filthy, have they ever cleaned the tiles in the pool why is the water green? Grounds unkept the staff were un able to cut grass because the lawn mower was broken so I was told. All the little things, Details make your stay great, This place laks the little and the big!!! It seems who ever is in charge just doesn't care. Don't waste your holiday here you'll be disappointed!!! We sure were.
