We just came back from Val-Morin, where we stayed at the Far Hills Inn. I have to say that after staying at a lovely B&B in Montreal, I was a bit disapointed by the room at the Far Hills. The hotel is a typical ski resort - and, as such, the rooms are decent, but far from charming or elegant. Our room was spacious and clean, but very basic, and could use some remodeling. However, it didn't matter, since we only came back there to shower and sleep. The location is wonderful, with gorgeous views of the mountains from the patio, and a very beautifully landscaped garden. I can imagine how cozy this place must be in the winter too, but in the summer it's just beautiful, with its quiet, placid private lake, where we could swimm or take a ride in a canoe without pretty much anyone around. The dinner was great, and we looked forward to it all day - it was like a daily surprise. Food was made with fresh ingredients and carefully prepared, with great desserts and good service. The area is just great too, and wonderful if you are travelling with a family - the trails are not too demanding, all activities are accessible and "doable" for kids or senior citizens, without being boring.
