“Oct 2011”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

I stayed here with my daughter and grandson on 26 Oct 2011. Do not be put off by the appeareance of the bar and restrauant, they could both do with urgent refurbishment. However we had a family room with one double and two single beds and the room was very spacious and newly decorated, the beds were clean but the single beds were a little lumpy. The shower was not very good but we managed. Due to a mix up with the booking we were not expcted and waited while the room was prepared, because of this the heating in the room had not been turned on and it was cold. By morning, however it was quite warm The best part of the hotel is the staff who were very friendly and the food, which was home cooked and very hot.
Overall I would recomend this hotel for a brief stay in a beautiful part of Wales. The prices charged for the excellent for and drink was very reasonable.

“Simply The Best”

The Foelas Arms is simply the best hotel accommodation you will find if you like get away from itall holidays with superb in house facilities. Mine hosts Lucille and Warren are fabulous and will do their very best to ensure your stay is memorable.

The ghotel is an old coaching inn on the A5 but there will be no Dick Turpins relieving you of your money here as it is great value all the way and all set in the beautiful Conwy Valley a few miles from one of North Wales most noted beauty spots Betwys-y-Coed.

There is a restaurant and several rooms in which to relax and a highly convivial bar that has everything a sports fan and connoisseur of good beer and wines could wish for.

I thoroughly enjoy my stays there and am planning another as I write!

“Friendly, Honest people. Would recommend for walkers in Wales”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2010

We stayed here when we spent a weekend walking in Wales. The room was ok. The shower was in the corner of the bedroom but it worked fine! and a little wooden screen was provided if you didnt want anyone to look. The bed was very comfortable.
We had a few drinks in the bar in the evening and played darts. It was very pleasant.
At some point during the evening I lost my mobile phone and was distraught. At breakfast next morning it was returned to me by the owner as it had been handed in at the bar after we had gone to bed. Outside an Audi Convertible had been parked all night with its roof down and contents left on the seats for all to see. The car belonged to the owners brother. I was impressed by the trust and honesty of the people here. The owner was an honest, down to earth, absolutley great bloke! A great inexpensive place to stay!

“We love it !!... it`s like a Welsh Fawlty Towers”

Lets get straight to the point. Dont go to the Foelas Arms if you want a 5* Hotel to spend a luxury weekend with your lover.... however, if like most people you are in the area for a weekend of walking, climbing etc, then the Foelas Arms is great. Yes the rooms are from the 60`s, no there isnt a spa or 24 hr concierge but what do you expect for around £30 a night. The owners are very friendly, the breakfast is great and the open fire and fully stocked bar is a welcome treat after a day in the mountains. We have stayed here three times now and when in Snowdonia, wouldnt stay anywhere else............... The Foelas Arms Rocks !

“Friendly hotel in convenient location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2010

Old-fashioned, friendly inn. It's on the A5, easy to find and convenient for getting to other places - surprised at how quiet it was considering the proximity to the main road. There is some parking at the front of the hotel although you may have to park up the side road in the evenings. Staff friendly, good breakfast (although 9 am is a bit late as a starting time). We ate in the bar in the evenings, enjoyed the food. The bed was very comfortable; the room we had could do with some updating. The shower was in the bedroom rather than closed off with the WC, and it was close to bunk beds and open at the top, so not very practical (e.g. impossible to have a shower in the morning without waking child). There were problems with the lighting in the WC too, sorted eventually but we didn't discover the problem until late on the first night and I was glad we had a torch with us! Over the road by the river there is a "Chocolate House", highly recommended.
