“A perfect weekend retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2011

From the moment we arrived at Larkbeare Grange the stress of everyday life slipped away. Charlie & Julia have made a fantastic job of restoring the house paying particular attention to detail. The room we had was very large, even with our 4 year old sleeping on the sofa bed there was ample room for all 3 of us! The beds are extremely comfortable - making it tricky to want to get up in the morning! Charile and Julia are the perfect hosts, from the homemade shortcake and tea on arrival to the loan of a rucksack and maps for our walk nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast is also really good with all local produce used. Larkbeare Grange is a perfect place to getaway and recharge the batteries!

“Spoilt rotten in Devon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2011

We stayed at this beautiful B&B for 2 nights in March 2010. We were made to feel very welcome and found that our room had been upgraded. In the mornings we had a delicious breakfast in the elegant dining room. They had even thoughtfully provided a printout of the weather for the day. In the lounge there was a folder full of very detailed information about the area The room was spaciou,s well furnished and extremely comfortable.. We had booked a restaurant in Exeter through Toptable only to find the booking had not been possible at the last minute so Julia rang around and found us a table at a delicious local pub, the Railway at Honiton.
We hope it will not be long before we are down in Exeter again and would definitely stay here again.

An excellent example of what a quality B&B should be like.
Caring and welcoming hosts, great accommodation with thoughtful extras and then a delightful and well prepared breakfast.
All this within a tranquil and beautiful location--as close to perfect as possible at a very reasonable price.
Thank you so much Charlie & Julia.

“Peace and a perfect welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2010

This was our second visit to Larkbeare this time for our anniversary it, we booked with only a few days notice, when I called Charlie answered and knew in an instant who I was! We arrived and Julia met us as we walked to the house. We had tea and Julia's amazing scones before heading out for dinner at The Jack in the Green. We came back to a well chilled bottle of champagne. The room we were given was spotless and the bed huge. we enjoyed the double end bath and in the morning the breakfast was lovely and I could have eaten all day and have to be rolled out. Charlie and Julia are very good hosts they know instinctivley when to be sociable and when to offer space and time. This is a lovely lovely place and well worth a visit if you are travelling far or like us on 20 minutes away.

“Wonderful spot. Made to feel so welcome.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2010

We found this place online and decided to break up a long journey to Cornwall with an overnight stay. We are so glad we did.
This charming B&B is an a beautiful setting. As soon as you arrive, our hosts Charlie, Julia and their daughter, Joanna, welcomed us into their beautiful home with a pot of tea and home made scones and cream.
The room was great (I think we had the biggest, it had an interconnecting room for our 2 year old, and our hosts had already set up a cot for our arrival). There were lovely toiletries to pamper yourself.
Breakfast was delicious, all local produce from the sausages to Julia's home baked breads.

It's never easy travelling with a toddler, but we were made to feel right at home at Larkebeare. We made to feel so welcome and were so well looked after. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone else looking for a convenient stop off en route to Cornwall or even for a few days exploring the local area.
