“Best in the West?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

I recently spent 3 nights at Larkbeare and would agree with the reviews of those who have stayed before. Welcoming, comfortable, lovely breakfasts with exceptional apple juice !!! No need for a clock if you stay in the South Room, as I did, because the sheep in the field opposite have a very set routine. The luxury of having a bath as well as a shower is a delight, especially such a deep bath to relax in, and unusual these days. My stay was unique because Charlie and I realised that we had met more than 20 years previously through a mutual friend, so much catching up and reminiscing!!! Is there anything else I would have liked? Well, only a cushion or two on the most comfortable sofa. It is unlikely I will have the opportunity to return to Larkbeare but I am so pleased I was able to stay once and to renew an old friendship and make a new one with Julia. Good luck to Joanna with her adventure next year!!!

“Simply Outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

We stayed at Larkbeare for 3 nights in September and throughly enjoyed it. The location of the house feels rural but it's just 2 miles to the A30 making it an ideal spot for those who want the best of both worlds! Right from the start we were made to feel so welcome by Charlie and Julia. They really have the perfect balance of being friendly and helpful without being too overpowering. The house is extremely well maintained and beautifully decorated throughout. Our room was very well presented and spotlessly clean. Our bed was probably the most comfortable one I've ever slept in! My only teeny tiny complaint is that our shower was pretty small, but the water pressure was fantastic and there was always plenty of hot water. Breakfast was delicious, all produce is locally sourced, free-range and organic were possible. The breads are homemade and the juice is freshly squeezed. I would definitely recommend Larkbeare and would love to go back again myself!

Room Tip: Worth checking if any of the rooms have bigger showers.

This is how it is done! Luxury, elegance, comfort and a feeling of being treated as somebody special. Well done Julia, you have definitely got the knack of making your guests feel at home and your property is outstanding plus the the English breakfast is to die for!

We were recently travelling through Devon and were very pleased to be able to stay here again after a 6 year gap...it is such a relaxed and tranquil place with very comfy beds, lovely breakfasts with homemade jam and bread and yummy bacon!
The owners are very friendly and welcoming with great knowledge and enthusiasm for the local area, which is beautiful....
Stay for a whole weekend if you can.

One issue - for TRIPADVISOR !!! - although I knew what I was looking for, I had to look really hard to find this place on your site as it is now tagged to Talaton, a small village - why on earth is it not down as being in the Exeter region so people looking for a lovely place to stay can find it??
