“A perfect end to our trip to NZ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We stayed a few nights at Stafford Villa to finish off our month in NZ. Chris and Mark are excellent hosts and all the lovely touches make it a special place to say. Breakfast was the best we had in all our trip, lovely selection and freshly made muffins. The house is a short downhill walk to the ferry over to main part of Auckland, ferrys are frequent apart from w/e
( but Mark kindly dropped us off one day). There are a range of restaurants within 15min walk , but its also very easy to hop on the ferry.Chris helped us to book a wine tasting on Waiheke , which was a great day out.

“A lovely escape”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We received a night at this lovely property as a gift and after arranging overnight babysitting we escaped for a night that we will try hard to find the time to experience again. The house and room was lovely, the extra touches like chocolates and bathroom treats very special and the bed was so comfy and luxurious. Chris and Mark were very informative hosts and clearly love what they do.

Room Tip: The honeyroom suite is a little further to the back and with beautiful blue furnishings...

“Magical Romantic Anniversary”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

I treated my wife and I to a night away for our anniversary at Stafford Villa and it was just the tonic. Room and house were beautiful. Chris and Mark were delightful hosts. Afternoon tea delicious. Breakfast was amazing. A must stay for anyone visiting Auckland or for Aucklanders looking for a night away on the North Shore.

“A wonderful wedding !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We were looking for somewhere really special to stay on the night of our wedding and found Stafford Villa . Having visited to see what it was like -( just beautiful!!) we had to book the wedding package .This meant the bridal party getting ready in gorgeous surroundings and a great location for photos, not forgetting Chris and Mark's awesome hospitality and attention to detail to look after us all. Despite my nerves I was still even able to enjoy Chris' lovely breakfast! ( Eggs Birkenhead!)
Arriving back after the wedding we had a lovely platter and champagne in the grandeur of the China blue room.
It was a fantastic place to stay during this really special time and we hope to return for our anniversaries.

“Bed & Banquet at Stafford Villa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

This was our second two night stay at Stafford Villa. After a 27 hour flight ex Heathrow this was our special treat - Stafford Villa's Bed & Banquet in Birkenhead to start a five week North Island tour. Why stay in a plastic palace in central Auckland when a short ferry or taxi ride to the North Shore offers so much more? Stafford Villa is a traditional, colonial style house offering a two room luxury bed and breakfast. Hosts Chris and Mark are so very welcoming, you immeditely feel as if you're in a relaxing home from home. Wine and nibbles for an evening catch up was an added bonus. This time we stayed in the four poster bedroom. In our experience four poster beds in the UK tend to be rather small, but this was big and sumptuous just like the breakfast. This is certainly an 'all day breakfast' because it literally keeps you going all day! Day 2 - a very confortable, short ferry ride to the harbour and CBD for another visit to Kelly Tarlton's and a first visit Auckland Zoo. Both are great experiences. The Ferry service has been transformed since our previous visit - now an expereince in itself. We noticed that Birkenhead had continued trending up and has quite a number of really good eateries. We were still too full from the Stafford Villa breakfast banquet! The home made muffins are one of our dessert island dishes. Feel in need of some pampering? Stafford Villa is the place for you!

Room Tip: We've stayed in both rooms - they're both great.
