“Will certainly go back”

We went right at the end of the bear season and it was nice and quiet. It is difficult to know what to say about this place as it was all great. The cabin was cosy and spacious, and the food was excellent. We had good sightings of both species of bear and two mountain goats. We did not manage to see any moose but our guide tried hard to find one for us. All in all our stay was incredible and we will certainly return.

“Brilliant”

I thoroughly enjoyed 6 nights here and could not fault it. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely down pillows, luxurious towels and warm BATHrooms with unlimited hot water. Pleasant chalets though I would have preferred brighter bedside lights. The only problem was trying to persuade the cook to give me less food!
My only disappointment is that I did not see any grizzlies from my window (though another couple saw one twice while I was there).
The guests chalets are separate from the lodge where meals are served (you are asked in advance what you would like for your main course evening meal, no choice on starter/pud). The big lodge room not only has the dining tables but also chairs in groups and big leather settees in front of the open log fire for chats particularly in the evenign, although after an active day it is very soporific!. There is a separate small library with guest computer. Wireless internet (not very strong) in the chalets.

“Can't do any better than Tweedsmuir Lodge...”

spent 5 nights at the end of August with my daughter looking for natural beauty and adventure, and certainly got what I was looking for! This is a wonderful lodge with wonderful staff in a location of jaw dropping beauty. Our cabin was great, the food was gourmet, and each day we had planned activities that were equally fun. You have to see the Bella Coola Valley to believe it's beauty. The lodge's setting is in front of the aptly named Mt. Stupendous. We spent a day exploring the valley with Jessip, a very knowledgable guide, and a day heli-hiking with him, which was the highlite of the trip. Another day with Doug taking nature walks along the Atnarko, and having a Grizzly literally walk into our laps! A river drift was another must do. Hated to leave, and hoping to return soon.

“Tweedsmuir Park Lodge "a bridge between Heaven and Earth"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

"An experience of blissful happines" is one of the definitions of Heaven. These words are also an appropriate way for me to describe Tweedsmuir Park and the and the Lodge located in the park. I travel to Bella Coola on business at least once a year and no trip into the valley is complete with out a visit to TPL. The staff, food, lodging and of course the setting are all top notch.

“Luxury wilderness stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

My wife & I stayed 4 nights as part of a Western Canada tour in September 2011. When we contacted Manouane we could only reserve the Owl Fisherman's cabin as all of the other more upmarket cabins were taken. However we personally found this to be an excellent choice.

Anna-Lee (not sure of spelling) on the main reception was fantastic always remembering your name and quick to help out with any tours or drinks which may be required - very cheerful & efficient manner. Top marks for customer service.

We went on a half day hike with Doug check out 'Doug on the trail' arranged by Anna-Lee. We had a very enjoyable morning checking out various spots along the river and walking a section of the old Tote Road. Doug managed to find us a grizzly bear & cub on the opposite riverbank - very exciting.

Owl cabin has a full kitchen (fridge, oven, electric hot plates and sink), double bed, 2 single beds and a small table. Bathroom was also of a good quality with shower (no bath). We decided to self cater for most of our stay bringing in groceries from Williams Lake. Food up at the lodge is quite expensive but very good quality (breakfast & lunch both C$20 each with dinner at C$45 each). We ate dinner in our cabin and then went up to the main lodge for a relaxing drink & a chat in the main lodge. We also enjoyed ourselves in the games room i.e. table football, table hockey, pool table. A table tennis table is located in the gym & hot tub area adjacent to the main lodge.

After the long drive from Williams Lake TPL is well located being at the nearest end of the valley to 'The Hill' for the bear viewing floats on the Atnarko River - many other people we spoke to had about a 30-45mins drive from their accommodation in Bella Coola & Hagensborg to arrive at the launch point on the river.

Very highly recommended.

Room Tip: If you are on a budget Owl cabin allows you to keep the cost down but still enjoy the luxury & w...
