I stayed here for the Death Race Weekend - the biggest annual event in the region each year. Despite having jacked up their rates, the hotel was completely focussed on having allegedly lost some towels and bedding during the previous year so were not willing to provide our family with a pillow or blanket for my four year old to sleep on the camp cot we brought for him (the hotel would only provide one rollout cot for our room ample despite space in our room, I have two small children). The staff feigned an apologetic attitude but made zero effort to accommodate any requests. The owners had clearly directed all staff to be rude and dismissive of guest issues on the weekend they make the most money in any year.

Other issues were intermittent internet connection and not all TV channels were available on my TV. The Security doors on the second building were unsecured for the entire weekend we stayed with no effort to remedy the situation.

While it is the newest and cleanest hotel in Grande Cache, they do not deserve any of your business unless you absolutely positively have no other choice. Good beds and a promise of free internet do not make up for such an unprofessional and discourteous attitude. TO stiff guests on basic extra amenities on the 3 days of the year they are booked full and getting to charge extra occupancy on most rooms is just plain wrong.

This hotel feels a bit old, nothing you can put your finger on but my room had a funny smell and the air conditioner was extremely loud. Not sure why but my room was extremely hot even though it was only about 15 degrees (celsius) outside. Lots of noise from the hallways and from upstairs- no soundproofing!! I was overcharged by the restaurant downstairs when compared to the menu in the hotel room on more than one item. I realize that's probably not the hotel's fault though.

This is a great place t stay while in Grande Cache. The choices are limited there and this is the best one. The things that could make it better are wireless internet and better pillows. Three of three of us didn't have a good sleep. We think it might have been because the pillows are too large and hard. I was right by the elevator and didn't hear it at all to my surprise.

I was very pleasantly surprised to discover that this is the best Best Western I have ever stayed at. This hotel has many elements of a 4-star hotel. This hotel is brand new and by far the nicest place to stay in town. I upgraded to a suite which was in a section of the hotel opened at the end of 2007 - this was a great idea. The room had a stove, fridge, flat screen TV, firelplace and everything I could have needed.

Tip: I booked the hotel room directly from the hotel because the rates were about $25 less than on bestwestern.com - I know this seems counterintuitive, but I highly recommend you price compare to get the lowest rate.

A big bonus was that the restaurant inside the hotel is the best in town. The Greek food was fabulous.

The only downside to this hotel is that it does not offer a free breakfast.

It is very hard to find a nice hotel in that part of Alberta. For this area, the Best Western is the place to stay.
