There are two buildings that make up this hotel -- I stayed in the more remote building. It was unmanned and in order to get any necessities (toiletries, coffee), you needed to walk or drive over to the other building and required to bring your key card, which was sometimes difficult when your hands are full. This was a minor inconvenience, but when you are staying there for the week and repeatedly don't get coffee and creamers replenished, it is quite annoying. And for the price I paid for that room, I was surprised there was no continental breakfast.
The building was older but renovated; my room was comfortable, fairly standard for this price range. The bed was fine, the rooms were quiet and clean. Overall, not bad, except for the unaccommodating staff with uncaring attitude. We stayed at this hotel for five nights, however, due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to check out a day early. Unfortunately, we discovered our need to leave Grande Cache two hours after the regular checkout time, but still (in my opinion) early enough for the room to become occupied. We were told we would have to pay for the full night, no exceptions. I attempted to negotiate, offering to pay $100 instead of the full $170. Since the hotel had been sold out the entire duration of their stay, they would have not had a problem filling that room, so I was quite upset -- especially since housekeeping had not made it to my room. I understand certain policies, but the staff member was fairly rude and inflexible about it. I will certainly look for other places to stay next time I'm in Grande Cache.
