Overall, the Comfort Inn Amherst is a decent option to stay. The beds are comfortable, and while nice enough, the rooms are in need of a bit of an update. It is close to stores, restaurants, gas stations. The front desk staff are both friendly and helpful. Breakfast is complimentary and offers a basic spread - As it's free it's hard to find much fault in it!
Considering the number of 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks in the parking lot at night, a mainstay of business at this hotel are construction workers, contractors, etc. As most are up and out at an early hour, it makes for little noise in the evenings.
If you absolutely cannot handle second-hand smoke, it may not be the best place for you as there are rooms where smoking is permitted and you do notice it on the main floor. The cleaning staff can be a tad overzealous, as on the two occasions I have stayed here, they start at about 7am and there's plenty of racket to go along with it (shutting doors, etc.).
However, if you are looking for a decent stay at a good price, this is a solid option. I wouldn't plan an entire vacation around it, but for the odd night or two this certainly meets my expectations and I will continue to use this hotel when in the area.
