We, my husband, son and his girlfriend, stayed at the lodge in the summer of 2011. The site is picturesque, but it's right on a frontage road that's a stones throw from the main highway. We arrived in a rainstorm and we were underwhelmed when we arrived. When you drive for miles to a remote location, I expected a different setting. The buildings are literally right on the road. Then the bad news (which turned out good) the room I had booked 8 months earlier wasn't available (the one with the loft) for 4 people. The staff generously gave us two cabins for the price of one; which was fortunate since 4 adults in the loft cabin would have been extremely uncomfortable. It's fine for young children. The cabins are appointed nicely, but are small and are on top of each other. There is no privacy, you must shut the curtains at all times. Now the bad news with no upside: I booked dinner for 4 in the dining room, we were told that there was no seating until 8:00, ok, we arrived around 7:30 but the dining room was far from full. We were seated at 8:00, we waited at least 45 minutes for our dinner and the chicken that was ordered was not done, it was pink. My son's girlfriend had to send her meal back, it was cold. Honestly, we aren't fussy, but the meal was dreadful and expensive. We noticed that other diners were picking at their meals too, two strapping teenage boys were pushing the food around on their plates. The next morning I asked the staff to comp the meal and they did. We checked out early. The staff was great, the setting, if pushed back further and buffered from the road could be spectacular. The cabins are far too close together when you're out in the middle of nowhere. I wanted to like it....
