“The best place to Stay to see it all”

On arrival at 5.30pm we were greeted with a note which in effect said walk in and make yourselves at home, which we did and felt very comfortable indeed. The room was spotlessly clean, big comfy bed, coffee and tea making facilities, a refrigerator and TV. All very comforting and welcoming. A good sized bathroom and comfy sofa completed the picture. I was also able to use my laptop computer and log into my emails.
Field is well placed for trips to all the major sights such as Banff, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Yoho National Park and Emerald Lake.
Two short blocks away was the crew changeover spot for the trains that run on the CPR rail line between Vancouver and Calgary. If you are interested in trains, this is the spot for you. The windows are double-glazed, but even with the windows open, the gentle hum of the occasional train engine was pleasant.
There are two places to eat in Field that we found. The General Store which has simple meals and snacks and very basic supplies to make your own. Nearby is the Kicking Horse Inn and the Truffle Pigs Cafe. Apart from excellent food that is "worth a journey" they make the best cappuccino in Canada.
We found no downsides to it at all, unless you don't like the gentle hum of diesel trains.

“Home away from home”

The Canadian Rockies Inn was just perfect for us on our stay in the Rockies. Field is a great little town and gives a break from the crowds in Banff, Lake Louise etc but, in our opinion, is very central for what we wanted to do. Don't be concerned about the closeness of the railway the trains are going very slow and the horn does not blow (unlike when they pass by Banff!!) just don't get stuck the wrong side of the crossing or you may have a long wait.
The Inn is very clean and very comfortable and equipped with all we needed. Luc is very friendly, but with your own front door and key there was little need to trouble them.
Plenty of good hikes just a short drive away, Takakawa Falls, Twin Falls, the Iceline Trail and many more.

“Very good base for exploring Yoho”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2010

We stayed here for 4 nights whilst exploring around Yoho NP. It had all the facilities you could ask for with the nice addition of a decent sized kitchen so we could self-cater to save a bit of cash. Field is such a small place that the location in the town doesn't really matter. The only downside is that the trainline is so close that the huge cargo locomotives may wake you in the night if you are a light sleeper. On the whole though, this is a great place to stay.

“Convenient location if you do not want to be amongst the tourists”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2010

Although some might say that its location might not be central, we would just state the opposite. Ideal location for exploring Yoho which is often forgotten (not always bad because here you can still connect with nature whereby Lake Louise area gets overcrowded) We stayed here 3 days and where able to explore Yoho, Lake Louise area, and some beautiful falls direction Golden (although hard to find but more than awesome)
Luc, the owner is very friendly and we feel the accommoadation is value for money. We were happy to have stayed here and do not regret a singel moment that we did not opt for Golden or Lake Louise. Just perfect . The Belgians

“Excellent Field base”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2010

We were let down by another guest house in Field and ended up here at short notice in a large two bedroomed suite. It is in the centre of the little village and was very convenient for our walks in the Yoho park which we enjoyed very much. We were made to feel very welcome and the suites are immaculate , clean and very comfortable. The only downside was that the kitchen area lacked a hob, which seemed a bit strange to us, but maybe that is the norm? Also I thought it a little expensive, but I know that the parks are expensive in the middle of the summer. If you want a very comfortable stylish base in Field then this is it.
