This hotel doesn't look like much from the outside (particularly the "seaside pavilion" where we stayed, which resembles student apartments), but you can't beat the location right on the beach. The room was quite comfortable and the view was gorgeous. We strolled to the restaurant for a good dinner and afterwards we sat in front of the outdoor fire which was great.

We never got the knack of booking breakfast with our room, but we had a good hot breakfast, reasonably priced.

We visited near the end of tourist season, and the whole place seemed a little worn out. In particular there is a ramshackle, listing building on the premises, apparently used to store stacking chairs, with "Boutique" painted on its roof. A photo op but nothing more.

I did not feel the service was exceptional but it was polite and courteous.

I would recommend this hotel mainly for the location.

This was our 2nd stop of our 9 day east coast road trip. Located on scenic Highway 132, Riotel Matane is very impressive. Reception staff was very organized and helpful. Trendy Room located on the second floor is very modern and very roomy. It came with a fridge, microwave, Keurig Coffee maker, and large flat screen TV with video input panel. Large walk in shower with large overhead rain showerhead. Nice restaurant with large windows overlooking the St.Lawrence river. Breakfast was not overpriced with quick service. Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone travelling through this area.

My wife and I stayed here in the midst of a long road trip. Arriving around 11 PM we were informed that they did not have a copy of our reservation. However, they were very apologetic and did come accross our reservation. The problem was that the online system never sent them a copy of our reservation. Even through they had the same type of room that we had booked available, we were given a better room, a discount of $40 on the room and a full hot breakfast at no change (which was not included in the booking). The whole process time from the time we arrived till we were in our room was only about 10 minutes, thus they truly compensated for a slight mistake.

Having stayed at this hotel earlier in the year, the beds are some of the most comfortable beds that I have ever slept in, and they have a very modern decor. They are located right on the main road in Matane and the staff are very helpful and will do their utmost to serve you in either French or English.

I will be sure to stay here again.

We stopped at this hotel during a trip to the Gaspé Peninsula and found it to be very conveniently located off the main highway. The hotel is easy to locate and there is ample parking. The staff is welcoming, courteous, helpful, and fully bilingual. The restaurants in the hotel offer a good dinner at a reasonable price. We were there for the lobster season and it was a good value. The room we had, a Trendy Room on the second floor, was large, clean, and tastefully appointed. The bed was comfortable and the rain shower was a nice feature. In summary, the Riotel Matane is a comfortable hotel offering very good accommodation at a reasonable price.
