“Nice simple homely hotel....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Being a solo traveller this was maybe not the best choice since its clearly aimed at families. The rooms are nice, the free internet and free (weak) coffee throughout the day and nice in room cooking options (mirowave, coffee maker etc.) all make it a good place to stay. The breakfast was a bit short on variety and fresh stuff, but in general not bad.

“Great family property right in the village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Hotel was great location and the 1 bedroom suite with full kitchen worked out perfect for the family. The outdoor hot tubs were great after a day of skiing. The breakfast buffet offered good variety for everyone. The gondola was very close and took you right to the base of the mountain. TIP - prebook your ski passes, lessons and rentals and you will save money, time and receive valet storage of equipment right at the base of the mountain.

“@ NIGHTS STAY”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

The Hotel is well organized, pretty clean. The negative point are a too small gym and the quality of breakfast a bit pour. The major problem the quality of the bed!!....I woke up with a bad backache. Overall GOOD.

“Disappointed at first, but overall decent”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Overall, our experience at this hotel was OK , but we really expected more from a Marriott property, especially in a luxurious location such as Mont Tremblant. Having stayed in Marriotts all over the world, with Platinum status, we've always been treated well. At this Residence Inn, the management was almost condescending (even a tad rude), and the suites were surprisingly small and cramped. Status means nothing here. We were not able to use points over the holiday, and at the rate we were paying (also increased about 3x for the holiday), we expected a lot more and felt a little ripped-off in the end.

The Residence Inn website pictures large and airy 2 bedroom suites with fireplaces. Nowhere does it state that the 2nd bedroom is completely open to view, and not private. We called ahead to ensure that there were 2 bedroom suites available that had privacy for couples - since we were two couples, no kids. We were assured that our needs would be met. We were also told ski rentals would be included. Both not true.

When we arrived the manager denied that private 2 bedrooms exist in the hotel, and that they were all equal - even though we later saw inside one that was two separate bedrooms. Not sure what the story was there. We originally accepted that fact and moved on, only to find that our room was half the size of the ones on the website. The master bedroom was small, and there was no place to put luggage - no racks or chairs. The room was filled with beds. The loft king bedroom was spacious. The fireplace was not usable, due to insurance reasons (which I think is true all over the resort at this point). This is the first time I've walked into a Marriott room, especially with our status which usually gets us the best rooms, and said "This is it? Really?" in a negative way.

As for the hotel being ski-on/ski-off, as the website and some reviewers have said, also half true. You can ski down the hill into the hotel, but not out. We didn't really mind, as we found it more convenient to stash our gear up at the lift base valet anyways. The ski rental VIP service for an extra $10 or so per person was well worth it. The agent comes direct to the hotel with boots, and all you have to do is show up at the valet and pick everything up when you're ready to ski - they even keep it overnight. Saved a lot of time waiting in lines. But this was not in any way included in the room price, so it must have been miscommunicated.

There was a free breakfast buffet in the mornings, well-stocked with choices. All of them pretty terrible. Eggs didn't taste like real eggs, hashbrown cakes were double-fried and dried out, and we saw them keep adding more and more water to the pot of oatmeal to stretch it out into a watery glop. Despite it being free, we opted to cook breakfast in our room the last 2 days. The grocery next door has the basics, way overpriced for eggs and bread, but soo much better!

Aside from the cramped suite, a little bit of attitude, a lack of power outlets and overloaded breakers in the room, and terrible breakfast buffet, I'd say we had a great time. I think the hotel was a bit overwhelmed by the holiday crowds (as well as the rest of the resort). We'd be happy to return, at the regular prices on a regular weekend, and consider it a good deal.

The location is great, right near the cabriolet lift and parking lots. The hot tubs looked fun, although filled with boys drinking beer constantly. The room setup works out fine, as long as you know what to expect. It's the perfect hotel for families, not the ideal for couples.

“Great location, Good Service, Friendly Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My wife and I took our 2 children (8 y/o daughter and 5 y/o son) to Mont Tremblant for a week after Christmas to introduce them to skiing and other winter sports and activities. We only booked the trip about 2 weeks in advance and used Marriott Rewards points to pay for the room. Despite the last minute plans and limited selection, we were very extremely pleased with both the hotel and Mont Tremblant overall.

We booked a 1 BR suite and were given one on the first floor facing the down towards the Cabriolet. The room had a door that exited to a covered porch that allowed us to ski right up to our back door, which was very convenient and the kid's loved. The room was spacious and clean, with a fully furnished kitchen. We only cooked lunch in the room one time, but all the utensils we needed were provided, along with dish soap and dishwasher detergent. The housekeeping staff were very friendly and effective (my kids spilled popcorn almost everynight unfortunately) and generous with towels and toiletries. Our only disappointment was that the in-room fireplace was sealed shut, but it wasn't a big deal.

The free breakfast exceeded our expectations. The kids loved the waffles and pancakes every morning, while my wife and I ate mostly eggs, yogurt, and fruit. There was a nice variety along with the basics everyday. Expect the typical herd mentality though.

While we didn't take advantage of it, there was afternoon snacks provided during the week - I saw pizza, soups, tacos, etc plus coffee, soda, juice.

We didn't take advantage of the outdoor "pool" while we stayed due to the very cold temperature, but I saw several guests in the hot tubs each evening - mostly teenagers.

The location is ideal. It is probably 100 yards form the cabriolet, or a 5 minute walk to the top of the hill where the lifts are located. There are several restaurants adjacent to the hotel, including Casey's which is located in the hotel. A grocery store is located across the street, so it's very convenient to quickly get something to eat or drink, and there are several shops located across the street as well. Just a short walk or cabriolet ride up is the "village center" where the bulk fo the restaurants and shops are located, along with the lifts and equipment rentals.

Overall, we ahd a fantastic experience and th ekids enjoyed learning to ski. We enrolled them in ski school for the first 2 days while my wife and I skied together, and then we skied as a family for the remainder of the week. There are several green runs that were ideal for the kids, some of them as long as 25-30 minutes. The ski school staff were extremely organized, friendly, and great with the children. Highly recommended. The ski rental shop was well organized also and they are able to process the huge crowds in the morning and afternoons with efficiency. Added touches were free nightly tubing on the beginner's hill with Magic Carpet, as well as free ice skating down by the village activity center.

Overall, both the Marriott and Mont Tremblant are highly recommended, especially for families with children and we would definitely return.

Room Tip: Request a room on the first floor for ski in/out to your rooms' back door.
