I've stayed at several Fairmont properties, and I would agree with other reviewers that this hotel's amenities are not what I would expect from the brand. I think the service and location of the hotel makes up for it though. If you're someone that wants to maximize your time on the slopes, Fairmont is a good choice. It is situated metres from the ski lifts, and when you stay at the resort you get "first track" tickets so you can get on the mountain 45 minutes before the general public. We also loved being able to pop up to our room on our lunch break, take off the ski boots, and have a healthy, cheap lunch that we brought with us rather than squeezing into an over-crowded and over-priced restaurant. I also found the service excellent: from the valet, to the front desk, to the ski valet and the restaurant staff.
It's very nice to sit by the big roaring fireplace with a glass of wine, and on the Saturday night that we were there they had someone playing live music on a beautiful piano. The pool and fitness facilities were excellent, as was the breakfast buffet. If you can get a deal here, there are sometimes promos for $169/night in a standard room, then I think the convenience is worth it. I definitely would not pay $300/night though.
P.S. Make sure you sign up for the Fairmont President's Club program (free) so you can have free wifi access
