“Best hotel in Tremblant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Our family of 5 visits Tremblant roughly once every season for more years than I can count now -- and we have found our home at the Westin. Driving up to the front door and being greeted by Martin, bellman extraordinaire, is like being welcomed by family. His presence literally makes our trip. All of the bellman - each one - are lovely, friendly and beyond helpful. That goes for the rest of the staff, too. Just had a birthday there and everyone kept wishing me happy birthday. So nice! And a happy birthday treat in our room, too??? There is a reason why we love it here so much.... it is a warm place that feels like our home away from home. Best location in our opinion, too. Go out the 3rd floor by the ski lockers to come out on the top of the hill, out the front door to be more at the bottom. With kids, not able to go out at night and enjoy the fun nightlife, but sushi takeout in our room from the attached restaurant does the trick. Tremblant is a special place, and the Westin along with it.

“Had a great time!”

Super cozy hotel, great staff. Martin, Martin, Martin had us laughing all weekend! His humourous welcome was a great way to begin our stay.

“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We rented a king-size bed suite during the week. The price was so low we were shocked to find ourselves on the top floor overlooking the village and the hill. The room was huge and had cathedral ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, working fireplace, TVs in the living room and bedroom a balcony from the bedroom, fully-stocked kitchenette with dishwasher. It was immaculate. The SAQ (liquor store) is right downstairs and the general store just around the corner makes it easy to prepare lavish meals in the suite. The outdoor hot-tub and swimming pool were piping hot (the hot-tub open until 10pm) and a great way to soothe sore muscles after a day on the hill. What stood out the most was the service which is top-notch. The hotel is already designed around skiers' needs (on arrival, your skis are whisked directly to a locker in a room with automatic sliding doors to the outside, a short-walk from the gondola) but what really stood out was that every staff member we encountered was helpful, enthusiastic and passionate about the area and the amenities creating a surprisingly intimate ambiance for a chain hotel. Note that the hotel is due to be renovated in the spring: patrons seeking up-to-the minute finishes and technology will be disappointed with the decidedly dated decor. However those seeking a comfortable bargain won't be disappointed this winter!

Room Tip: Ask for the top-floor suites facing the mountain for a quiet, grand room with a view.

“Only on a Discount”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

The hotel has mixed reviews online but I got a great deal as a Starwood Gold member and took a chance. The service and staff (with the exception of house keeping which I will expound on later) were all 5 star. The facility though was old, not well kept up, and definitely 3 stars at best.

Lets start with the room. I booked a 1 bedroom suite. The room had carpet coming up, old style television with snowy screens, and we were constantly short on towels. In the hallways the walls were scuffed and dirty and it took a weight lifter to open the doors to the ski locker room. One day we had to open the door for a woman with children because she did not have the strength to do so. Also the spa was very basic and had old metal gym style lockers. It may have had the Westin name but did not feel like any Westin I have been to in the past.

Service..... As it was my birthday the hotel manager sent up a coupon for 2 free cocktails at the bar. Nice gesture to be sure. We went down and ordered a Cosmo and a Martini and were informed they were not included in the coupon as they cost exta to make. It was for beer, house wine, or a "mixed drink like rum and coke". As a gesture though the bar keeper offered to make us each a 1/2 of a martini. Now I am no mixologist but as I remember there should be the same amount of alcohol in a martini that is in a mixed drink....? Strange rules on a free items.

In terms of the restaurants, the Yamama Japanese sushi place was fantastic and service excellent. The breakfast buffet at the Westin was average with stall eggs and cold meat. We ordered ala cart the second day and the poched egg was unedible due to the amount of vingar they used in the water. When we commented this to the waitress her response was, "just take something from the buffet". Not 5 star service.

As to housekeeping we already commented that we always got a minimum amount of towels. The towels and bathrobes are very coarse and on the small side. Also housekeeping short sheeted the bed and my pillow case had blood on it during our last night. When I commented to the front desk on the blood during check out all they had to say was "ewww" I hope housekeeping replaced it.

So in all we got a great discount but the experience was definitly not more than 3 stars. I suggest that if you are paying more say $180 a night just go to a different hotel. Personally I was very dissappointed that Westin allowed this hotel to carry the Westin brand.

Room Tip: During ski season get a room facing southwest if you want quiet. There is a lot of college crowd p...

“Great spot, unfortunate circumstances”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Stayed at the Westin last weekend with my fiancee. The room was very nice and cozy with a nice fireplace. Location of this hotel is fantastic, right in the middle of the village, and you can walk to the lift in a matter of minutes. Probably the best hotel in the village. Also has a great pool and hot tub area.

Unfortunately for us, we were woken up by a drunken Aussie at 4am who decided it would be a great idea to have a loud conversation with his friend Pat on his cell phone right outside our room. When we called hotel security to tell him to move, they said they would be right on it but the Aussie decided to continue to talk for another 10 mins. I eventually just went out myself and told him to go inside. He came back out shortly afterwards, at which point I called the front desk again and it turns out to solve the problem earlier, they called and woke up the wrong room instead of just sending security. Could have definitely been handled better but I guess this scenario was out of their control.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the Aussie with friend named Pat.
