The staff we encountered were very friendly and accommodating. My kids were even able to walk the dog! (John V). The hotel was very quiet and reminiscent of an old tudor manor. But even the very friendly staff couldn't help the sad state of the rooms. The bathrooms are in need of some serious updating. There was mold appearing on the grout of the tiles, there was standing water in the tub when you had a shower, there was some paint peeling on the ceiling, and if you lifted the handle on the tap too much it sprayed out from the handle! The beds were not too comfortable, and the brass rail headboard was just annoying. The continental breakfast was not all that appealing ( toast / muffins / cold boiled eggs) We decided to eat elsewhere after the first day. Although the price was very reasonable, I can see why they couldn't justify charging more. I couldn't recommend the staff more, as they were always friendly, smiling and willing to help out. If they updated their facilities while still retaining the old world charm, they would have a world class boutique hotel. Should the Manager read this review, the room number was #311.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your review of our hotel. I am very pleased our staff (and John V) were up to our usual standards but I am not happy with the condition of the bathroom. We continually monitor and maintain the bathrooms, which includes grout cleaning and painting when necessary, but this was obviously not done in this case. I will be bringing your comments to the attention of our maintenance and housekeeping departments to find out what happened.
The breakfast items are a franchise standard but we will continue to monitor our guest comments and get feedback to see if there are items that need to be added. Again, thank you for your comments and I hope you give us another try to see that your comments were used constructively.
