We are from Ottawa Ontario, and will NEVER return to Club Vacance Le Plateau -- its a dump. DUMP. Staff have to be convinced that we could stay in a room that smelled like it had been smoked in for years. Run down, cigarette smelling unit, with ashes and dirt on the bathroom door. RCI -- if you are booking with RCI don't do it. You will be so disappointed. RCI -- do EVERYONE a favor, don't list it in your condo listings. Its unhealthy -- the biggest dive I have ever seen in all my travels. In fact I will be contacting Quebec Public Health for an inspection...

“Very Nice Condo; not a Resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

After reading some of the poor reviews of this property, it is best to put things into perspective. First of all, it is a very nice Condo. It would be stretching it to describe the location as a Resort. RCI looks foolish listing this property as a Gold Crown Resort. It does not come even close to comparing to the Gold Crowns we've stayed in Mexico. It equates to Fairfield Sapphire Valley or Palmetto Dunes in Hilton Head. As a condo, we found everything to be satisfactory. The bedding and furniture were fine. The kitchen is small, but my wife had no problem preparing over a dozen excellent meals. Heat and hot water were very responsive--great place to take hot baths. It might say it is for 3-4 people, but more than a couple is pushing it. The table, with the leaf out, sits 3. Some condos and some Chalets have very nice views. Call the resort one week prior to get a good view of either the ski mountain or the river/city of Beaupre. For the river view, consider Chalets 8-20 and for the mountain view consider condos buildings 1300-1500, 2100, 2300, and 2600. We were in a middle floor condo, so the deck, with the table/chairs, was the same as the landing into the unit. There is a very nice IGA grocery store several miles away in Beaupre. We drove into Quebec once/parked with Manuel's help and then followed up with a tour from the Condo with the nice assistance of the concierge. Visits to the copper factory/showroom and honey bee museum were well worth it. One must not miss the Basilica St Anne du Pre. Museum du Fort in Quebec was great for understanding the battles of Quebec. The stairs down to the lower level in Quebec are relatively easy and saves $4 each way on the Funicular. We went on daily walks through the residential neighborhood down the street from the chalets. The small 19" TV had the major US networks and the DVD player worked fine. Video rentals are $3, but we strongly disagree with the $10/day charge to use the Internet in the lodge. Pool was cold and unused; tennis court was locked. There is no surface to store anything except the small 2 x 1 1/2 kitchen work surface, the dinette table and the top of the dresser in the BR. There was a total of 8 hangars in the closet.
All in all, it was a great location with plenty to do. This location is an adequate Condo and should not be advertised as a Resort.

“Depends on the Unit!”

We stayed for 4 nights in August and made our reservations without checking the reviews. On reading some of the bad reviews, we became concerned and telephoned the lodging manager to ensure that we received a renovated unit. Manuel the lodging manager was very nice and helpful and because of him, our stay was very good. There are many units in this resort and they are continually upgrading. To enjoy your stay, make sure you receive a renovated unit - it will make a huge difference. The resort is not Gold standards, it is spartan but we found it to be clean. The units are spacious although the bathroom is small. We did not use the deck or swimming pool, it was a base for Que. City for us. The surrounding area is also very nice.

“Bad choice for summer resort stay.”

We stayed here for week in summer. Bad choice. .  .  the unit we had was old, no A.C., sun deck was rough, pool dirty, no fresh towels at the pool, cracked pool chairs (look before you sit or they will pinch you HARD!).  In my opinion, this place is an old motel off the main road.  It's a place to sleep, cook, and leave.  If it were not for the location near Quebec City, we would have checked out on our first night.

“A Tired Out 'Resort' in Need of Upgrades (Beaupre, QC)”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2010

We were looking for a quick getaway for a week of vacation on the way to the Maritimes for a business trip and we really should have done our due dilligence before booking this tired out 'resort'. Though it may be perfect for a ski getaway in the winter months, as a summer destination we were not impressed.

-NO AIR CONDITIONING...and it was 32 degrees Celcius!
-one of the pools was very grubby and all of hte white chairs were stained form being so weathered
- windows were mostly broken and screens did not stay in (one flew across the kitchen with the wind) and most of the vertical blinds were broken and did not open or close fully
-very noisey - hwy 360 is a busy road with many large trucked gearing down to climb the mountain
-beds were extremely hard...almost unbearable and linens were patheticly thin / very cheap towels too
-pull out couch was ridiculously uncomfortable...to the point the chidren slep on the floor instead by choice

Luckily our outings were great - Quebec City / Vieux Quebec (free concerts and Cirque de Soleil), Montmorency Falls (cable car and walking bridge), Ile d'Orleans (amazing 1.5 hour drive around the island and the Chocoletiere should not be missed - ice cream dipped in real milk or dark chocolate is heavenly) and we were able to buy lots of local fruit and veggies which we cooked in the unit's kitchen which was well equipped.

We were told by many guests that the resort excursion services were fantastic...helpful staff and reasonable options for all price ranges and interests. The restaurant was ok but considering what else was availble, it was the bes option. Table d'Hote is reasonable.

For a relasing day, hang out at the pool by the restaurant...cleaner, less kids, poolside service for drinks and food, and its relatively sheltered form the highway.

Overall, I would not recommend this place unless you are looking for a budget getaway...very budget...
