We used La Camarine as a starting point to visit the area North of Quebec City. The rooms are large and comfortable with spacious baths. The only drawback is the the hotel is by the main road so opening a window at night is not an option. Individual air conditioners work fine but are a bit noisy.
The restaurant is top-notch and its set menus are discounted for hotel residents. Staff is very pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. The receptionist booked us on a wonderful whale-watching tour out of Baie Sainte-Catherine.

We rented 2 double queen rooms in July 2009. One of the beds was very wet, so after to complained they gave us another room. Guess what ? the shower head was missing in this one and the water pressure was terrible.
Okay, one room was good so we attributed the other to just bad luck.
When it was time for breakfast we knew bad luck had nothing to do with it, it was just bad service & understaffed. It took more than half an hour for the waitress in the restaurant to acknowledge us or bring us a menu (after 2 reminders). We were just sitting around in the restaurant watching other customers lose their temper or just get up and leave. We ended up leaving ourselves without any breakfast that was included as part of the stay - very sad indeed !

Our experience started with the check in, where they didn't have a record of our reservation, even though we had a conformation number from Priceline. The told us we could stay that night, but that they had no rooms available for the second night. We had to spend hours that evening on the phone, until they finally found a way to get us a room for our entire stay. While most rooms have a/c, our room had only a free standing fan. Between the summer heat and the hard mattress, we had an uncomfortable night.

When we returned to our room the second evening, the room had not been cleaned, nor the beds made. Since it was already after 11pm, there was nothing they could do about it, other than say they were sorry.

Overall, I would not recommend this Hotel.

Very disappointed with this Auberge. Facility poorly maintained
1. weeds al over the garden
2. both our rooms had ripped patio door screens
3. no shower curtain ???
4. breakfast was TERRIBLE (cold toast, half menu unavailable)
5. Decks need paint
6. No duvet on my bed as advertised

In other words, no attention to detail. Brochure very misleading.
