Upon arrival in Fernie, we went to the 'Three Sisters Travelodge' where we had booked a room for our stay the previous week. Seemingly they know how to make a reservation, but cannot hold the reservation. We had just driven by the Stanford on our way into town and decided to see if they had any vacancies.
Once we arrived and explained our predicament to the front desk clerk, she was very helpful. They were fully booked in the hotel, however, they had a condo available that had just been cancelled. The condo was out of our price range, so the clerk began to try a few other competitors to see if they had any rooms. It must've been shift change because there was a second clerk who joined in the effort. By chance they found a 'lock-out' unit in an end unit of one of their condos. We were given the rate and a key to see if it fit our needs.
The room was very clean and warm, with nice furnishings. It was a little small, with a twin in the bedroom and pullout in the main room. Given the lack of options we had, we decided to tough it out. There was both a judo tournament and hockey tournament happening in town, not to mention all the skiers in town.
Being in the condos, we weren't in the hotel very much so not much to say about those facilities. We did go to the pool a couple times which was quite nice, plus the slide was awesome. Didn't venture into the outdoor hottub as a group of teenagers had it occupied...would be nice if it was not so busy.
The continental breaky was kind of lame, just the basics. It is nice they have it though for a quick snack and is available until 10am if you wake up a bit late.
Overall, happy we ended up at the Stanford. Staff was very accommodating and helpful, rooms very clean, just a little small where we were. Decent value, will probably return.
