“Could not stay here...they didn't hold our reservation”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We had booked a room for a two night stay over a week in advance, however, when we arrived at 4pm to check in, the front desk clerk had no idea who we were...absolutely no record of our name, address...nothing.
To be honest, we had read reviews on tripadvisor on our way there and were concerned it could be a shoddy operation. We decided we would look at the room first and decide then if we would stay. We aren't too fussy, as long as the room and amenities are clean and relatively quiet, we usually enjoy our stay.
The latest review we read mentioned an employee that was out of uniform. We kind of laughed it off as we live in the kootenays and are kind of used to the easygoing nature of people in this area. It must've been the same guy who greeted us. He was creepy looking, unshaved wearing what looked like his pajamas or track suit and not bathed...looked like he had never brushed his hair. The front desk area was also not very clean or organized.
Having two young children and after reading these reviews and confirming the few things we were able to, we felt it may have been a blessing in disguise(and we're not a religious family)that they hadn't held our reservation.
Would not recommend to my worst enemy, will never attempt to return!
Ended up getting the last room available at the Stanford and were pleased to stay there.

First off I have to say that I don't own or wear track pants. I wear Khaki pants and do some running around here at the Travelodge, so at times my hair will appear to be messy especially coming from outside. Secondly I have never turned a guest away and at best I will try and find them other accommodations. So I am not sure who you met here at the Front Desk. The person you described was not me.

“Horrible Experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

The room was so expensive for what you get... I guess because it's a Ski resort community, so this gives them the right to rip you off!! I've stayed in ALOT nicer places for the same amount of money, which makes me feel violated. The room was smelly and there was a evergreen tree air freshener trying to disguise it. There was hair in the bathtub... the walls are like paper, since i could hear every single thing the people in the room beside us said and did... In retrospect I wish I had driven the hour to Cranbrook to get a decent room.

Room Tip: Don't stay at this property!!!

“What you expect from a Travelodge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

What you expect from a Travelodge
Honestly, with Wyndham hotels as Super 8, Days Inn, Ramada and Travelodge, its a hit n miss.

This one is OK, good low rates, but not much else to say.

Stayed in the separated block behind the main office.
It looks a bit shabby from outside but not bad.

Its a good bargain for a night.

“wonderful staff, clean rooms good price!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

This is the best deal in Fernie, very clean rooms, wonderful friendly staff, can not say enough about this place, my wife and I have stayed here a few times, but decided we needed to write a review, not one bad thing to say at all, beds are very comfortable, rooms are well appointed, pool/sauna/hot-tub areas are all clean and new looking, we feel the room prices are a great value, we have stayed at other hotels in Fernie over the years, all were great as well, but costing a lot more money

why pay more? This is not a low quality motel, it's just right, right on the highway, Subway restaurant onsite, hot-tub, pool, and sauna, after hiking all day it was great to come back to this place, everything you need without breaking the bank!!!

“Rooms smelled and staff not accommodating”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

We stopped at the Three Sisters Travelodge for one night (no reservations). The advertised price on-line was $70. When we asked at the desk if there was a room available, the staff said that the rooms priced at $70 were sold out. She asked us if we wanted a smoking room for that price. I said no, and she told me the price of a non-smoking room that was available. We then negotiated a cheaper price for a 'non-smoking' room. (not as low as $70). However when we went to the room, it stunk like smoke. We called and complained and she did move us to a room that didn't smell like smoke. I couldn't help but think that she gave us the 'smoking' room on purpose. You get what you pay for!

Hello Guest,
I recall your stay with us. When you came into the hotel you brought an ad on your I-phone that stated prices starting at $75 American. When we went further into the website to attempt to look at the type of room for that price, we discovered together that the advertised price was not available for the night you arrived at the hotel as all of our single rooms were sold out. The lowest price available for the night you arrived was $92 American on the website, a price I was happy to match and even gave you an additional discount due to the misunderstanding. We gave you a double room, non-smoking, indicated by the permanent non smoking sign attached to the hotel room's front door. Once in the room you called down to report that it smelled like smoke. Without questioning you or any hassle at all we upgraded your room to a larger room with 2 queen size beds and apologized for the inconvenience. I apologize again for the smoke smell that was in the non-smoking room, but I assure you that it is a room that is designated as non-smoking. I would never lie to someone and give them something that they do not want. There is no gain for us to rent a smoking room over a non-smoking room, both are priced the same and are desired by our different types of guests. I believe that the upgrade was more than fair as a solution to the problem. We even had a pleasant discussion as you were checking out in the morning leading me to believe you were happy with your stay. I would like to thank you for your patronage and invite you to stay with us again in the future if you find yourself back in Fernie. Have a great day and good luck in your future travels.
