“Awesome Time in Fernie”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2010

We just got back from spending 2 nights at the Juniper Lodge in Fernie. It was a great stay! And, we even brought our cat! They offer pet friendly rooms, too...
We were given a room on the bottom floor...I was apprehensive about this at first, but as it turned out, the weather was lovely, and we enjoyed placing our chairs on the lawn to drink an afternoon beverage.
The room was very clean, and very well appointed. I loved the electric fireplace. I did some reading there while my fiance watched some TV on the flat screen. There were plenty of towels, great furniture, and lots of dishes, etc. in the kitchen. My only concern was the bed--we are used to a king-size bed! (There was a tiny bit of noise from upstairs--but it was very short-lived!)
It is 'shoulder season' right now, and much of the mountain was closed. But, we walked into town (1.5 hour walk) and enjoyed the sights.
We ate at Yamagowa Sushi, Picnic, and Blue Toque. And, we would highly recommend them all! We were not as pleased with The Elevator, though.
While we did not end up enjoying the hot tub, it was clean and warm.
Overall, we would totally recommend it, and we intend to go back and enjoy the outdoors!

“Juniper Lodge on the Mountain is top notch!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2009

Our stay at Juniper Lodge in Fernie was amazing. Nice amenities......5 hot tubs to use, shuttle bus to the ski hill and a full kitchen with granite and stainless. The hot tub was a great end to a superb day on the hill. We went with some friends and they stayed in a bronze room which was definitely not as nice as our upgrade Platinum room. There are some good deals out there online and I would definitely stay here again. Great service too.

We need some extra pots for a big dinner we were cooking and we phoned down to the front desk and they were delivered to our door in under 5 mins.

“Nice enough, but not an ideal location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 March 2009

Each building houses a different standard of accommodation depending on your choice of room standard e.g. gold, silver, platinum. We (group of 6 lads from UK) opted for a silver room which put us in the Aspen Lodge. I can only comment on the general areas of the hotel and the quality of the silver accommodation in the Aspen Lodge.

Apartment - Nice enough. Pretty roomy, well decorated. TVs in lounge and twin bedroom. Decent little kitchen, slightly lacked on pots and pans but got more from reception when needed. Bathrooms ok - weird double entry doors to the main one!

Amenities - 7 hot tubs to choose from. All good enough, differing in size and temperature. Swimming pool looked good, but not tested. Free, slow internet in the main lobby. Highlight was use of the barbecue in our lodge. 2 large gas barbies, free to use for all and lighters available from reception. Very small selection of DVDs available for hire at $7.50 from reception (con!).

Staff - Great, helpful in booking cabs and with all our requests in general. Quite a young crowd running the front desk, but no dramas.

Location - This is my only grumble. Not truly ski in/ski out unless you can ski across a road and up a small hill. My idea of ski in/ski out means you don't take your ski's or board off between the front door and the slopes. We were also keen to head to downtown fairly regularly and this always meant either waiting for the $3 shuttle bus or jumping in a $20 cab each way. Since there were 6 of us we went for a cab each time, but there's no way around it and it grates after you've spent $300 on cabs alone.

Overall, it's ok, but that's it really. Think the issues with the location are more associated to the fact that there's not a huge amount going on at the resort itself by night, but then Fernie is a small 'friendly' unspoilt resort, so you get what you expect.

“Juniper Lodge a winner!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2009

Juniper Lodge exceeded all our expectations! We had a skiing vacation of 2weeks at the Fernie Alpine Resort and stayed on the fourth floor( platinum) in a 2 bedroom suite which had a stylish open-plan livingroom/kitchen and stunning views of the ski runs. The suite has 2 en-suite bathrooms and also its own washer&drier, phone+internet connection. It also provided your own ski-lockers, very helpful. As we were on mountain it was an easy a 5minute walk to the ski-lifts or using the shuttle (free if you stay in Timberline) every +-8min to drop you off at the ski-lifts. GREAT hot tubs on site overlooking the beautiful forest. There is also an outside gas barbeque - great for some juicy, Alberta beef steaks! We felt very priviledged staying in such a luxurious self-catering suite and at a reasonable price. To put the cherry on the cake the skiing is out of this world - large terrain and great variety and even better POWDER. Europe won't see us again. We will be back next year!

“Not worth the money!”

We rented a Platinum room in building 5. We expected something special, to warrant the Platinum price. What we got was an ok room for top price. The kitchen lacked in pots and pans etc. The hot tub and barbaque was locked due to the cold? After skiiing this would have been nice.
Do not rent this place, it is an over-priced rip-off!
