“Much improved”

We visited three years ago and were disappointed: the place was musty and moldy and seemed to be declining. But the location is the best you can find in these parts so we came back, with happy results. The room had been upgraded (though the shower is still quite ancient) and the mustiness had vanished despite a soggy night. So we're happy to recommend this property once again for a visit to charming Qualicum Beach.

Room Tip: Our upstairs unit had fridge and microwave; downstairs you can have a kitchenette for about $10 more...

“Million dollar view”

I agree with everything that bytherules said. We had the corner room on the upper level, and the view from both large windows was magnificent, both day and night. We couldn't have been closer to the ocean unless we were in it, and the sound of the waves was wonderful. Do not expect a luxury inn, but for this price, and this view, I think that the Sand Pebbles Inn was excellent value.

Room Tip: Definitely get the corner room on the upper level, away from traffic noise, and with an incredible v...

“This was our second year, in the same room, at the Sand Pebbles Inn in Qualicum Beach.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2011

My friend and I, along with our 7-year old girls (niece and great-niece), have decided to spend several days every August in the same room at the Sand Pebbles Inn (includes a kitchenette). We all have a wonderful time, and our hope is to give these girls life-long memories of summer vacations at Qualicum Beach. They'll remember our beautiful room with wide-open doors onto the grass lawn and the beach itself.

“Lovely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

My partner and I stayed at the Sand Pebbles Inn for one night on our way to Tofino after a long day travelling from Ontario. This was a lovely and quaint ocean front motel style property. We awoke in the morning to Mother Nature’s alarm clock, the sound of the ocean and waves at high tide, which was so wonderful!

Rooms are motel style units that are very clean and comfortable, all with amazing ocean views. Bathrooms are dated (with olive green fixtures) but again, everything was kept very clean. There was a nice courtyard with loungers and chairs to sit and read, watch the sunset, have a drink, or whatever you choose. There are stairs from the courtyard down to the beach, which we didn’t get to use ourselves due to our limited time there and the fact that it was high tide.

The price was reasonable for an ocean front property, particularly when compared to a number of other places in the area. I would recommend this property to both couples and families looking for a clean, comfortable and relaxing place to stay in the “Oceanside” area at an affordable price. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer.

“Fell asleep listening to the waves...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

Was exactly as expected - small beachy hotel on the beach. The rooms are large and have recently been refreshed - new carpet, TV, decor and linens. The fixtures (bathtub, kitchenette, etc) are from the 1970's although all was in good working order and very clean. There was plenty of space for 3-4 people in the room which had 1 queen bed and a sofa bed. There was also a full sized table and chairs. Would have been a great place to stay for a week.

The views of the ocean and coastal mountains from our room were spectacular. We were in room 119, upstairs from the Office which is considered an Ocean Front room due to its direct views of the water.

We were also able to leave the doors to the balcony open all night and listen to the waves roll in. I would recommend getting an upstairs room since the balcony doors are the only window in most rooms and there did not appear to be any heating/cooling/fans in the rooms for ventilation/circulation.

All rooms have at least a partial view of the ocean in three buildings laid out in a U - we were in the middle building. Next visit I will try to reserve a Queen Ocean Front Double Balcony room as they are upstairs corner rooms and are on the edge of the property closest to the water so have 180 degree water views.

The hotel has its own access onto the public beach and lounge chairs for guest use along the breakwall.

There is no restaurant on the property but there are several close by and more in the village up the hill, as well as a good grocery store.

Would be a great casual romantic break, and good for families.
