“Overpriced but clean and convenient”

First, the good things: The Inn is in a great location, 1 block off of the main street and the waterfront. The Inn provides a selection of gourmet breakfast items as part of the room. We received a upgrade to the biggest suite they had--a two floor one with a huge whirlpool tub big enough for two.

Now, the bad things: The room was dusty, small things like burned out lightbulbs/loose drawer knobs/no telephone were a nuisance. The room was very loud and it seemed to be due to the lack of noise insulation in the house or something. Our room was also located directly on top of the kitchen which sent a lot of noise up our way. That was annoying.

The daughter and father who helped us check in were extremely hard working and attentive. The woman innkeeper was a bit stiff but overall kind...just seemed to be focused on being direct and efficient and nothing more.

Overall a nice place with a great location...just a bit pricey it seemed.

“Super cool”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2005

My Mom and I stayed in St. Andrews for a long weekend for a get-away-from-busy-Toronto trip. We had the pleasure of staying at the Inn on Frederick. It was perfectly located, we were able to walk to everything. It was a block away from the ocean and we both loved it. The staff there were awesome and totally welcoming.

“Not bad, but would try another place next time”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2005

We stayed at The Inn on Frederick for one night in June of 2005. It was nicely furnished and clean. The downside was that our room overlooked the back of a grocery store and early in the morning when the deliveries began it was a bit noisy. There were only two other people staying at the inn when we were there so it was very quiet otherwise. Although the interior was nice the exterior was in need of some tidying up so it didn't make a good first impression on us. It also took quite some time for anyone to appear to greet us when we arrived. When they did, it was the the owner/chef. He was amiable and he certainly prepared an excellent breakfast for us. We didn't have dinner here so cannot comment on that. As I recall, we looked at the menu and decided that it was a bit pricey for our budget. We would stay here again but would be more inclined to try another place.

“Highlight of Our Trip!”

This historic home has been restored to one of the most gracious inns we have had the pleasure of staying in. The atmosphere, furnishings, and the marvelous hosts made this a truely unforgetable experience.
The chef is amazing and our dinners, we consider, definely 5 star. We have only enjoyed such lovely gourmet meals in a more urban setting and were surprised to see such a small town have a first class chef and dining room......we will return!

“An excellent place to stay in beautiful St. Andrews by the Sea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2004

We stayed at the Inn on Frederick in early August, 2004. The lovely old home has been beautifully restored with wonderful antiques and turn of the century charm. All of the rooms were very comfortably decorated; the one we stayed in (one of the larger ones, with a King size bed and double jucuzzi tub) was superb.

The Inn's location is literally just a few steps from the heart of little St. Andrews by the Sea and all there is to see and do there - lovely little shops, the wharf and all the associated attractions there, some really nice places to eat, a supermarket, a liquor store, everything you could ask for in an Inn.

If you're looking for a place to treat your wife, this is it. As a honeymoon destination, it would be a really nice place to stay for two or three days in the summer. The honeymoon package looked pretty reasonable.

The breakfast we had was excellent. We didn't have a dinner, but the chef looked liked he had the skill and the equipment in the kitchen to do a really nice romantic meal.

The hosts were excellent too. I'd highly recommend the Inn on Frederick.
