Aux Jardin's de l'anse is NOT situated in the heart of Perce, but maybe 15 km away. When we arrived at the place, I was a bit disappointed because it wasn't so convenient - which meant that we needed to take our car to get out for dinner and etc.
However, the hospitality and generosity of the hostess made up for it!!!
We took the smallest room - no ensuite - but it is just opposite the bathroom. There are also 2 bathrooms.
We also saw many huskies there (among other dogs) - they are not allowed into the house but they use them to go sledding in winter.
We were also told that the huskies would howl (for about 15s) every morning when the sun rose (i.e. around 5 am as we stayed there in summer) but then they would stop. My husband and I didn't hear anything at all, but the rest of the guests (when we had breakfast) said that they howled 3 times in total. We were quite surprised that we didn't heard anything because I am a light sleeper, but it was maybe because our room was the furthest away from the kennels.
Odette (the owner) gave us an excellent recommendation for dinner - she did mention, at breakfast the next day that they "live to eat and not eat to live". ;-P
She was also very nice because she let us do our laundry for free (VERY much appreciated, especially since we are travelling for 6 weeks!) and what touched us was that, after the wash, when our clothes were in the dryer, she told us that she would remove them from the dryer for us and put them in our room. In that way, we didn't need to hang around and wait, but could go out for dinner and walk around the "centre-ville".
The bed was comfy but what was great was the breakfast. You need to set aside at least 1 hour for breakfast, so if you want to eat and run, I don't think it's for you. Breakfast is at 8am. We started off with juice, muffins, bread, etc, followed by yoghurt and fruit. After that, we had eggs and bacon, then a quarter of a bagel with smoked salmon and finally, pancakes. The portions are OK, but you need time to sit and enjoy the food. If you are planning to catch the 9am boat to go to L'ile de Bonaventure, well, I don't think that's possible. The "wait" in between the courses is also just right.
So, as mentioned, if you want to eat and run, then this is not really for you. They may be able to accommodate you, but you have to inform them in advance.
All in all, a pleasant stay. Delicious breakfast and the hosts were lovely! :-)
P.S. My husband and I are fluent in French and all the other reviews are in French, but when I asked them, they said that they can speak English as well.
