A couple of friends of ours accompanied us on our visit to the Lion D'Or. I have never been thanked so much for recommending this charming Inn. Nestled amongst lakes, mountains, and golf courses, this establishment deserves all of the highest honors. The food was succulent, a six course meal served in a charming ``Verriere`` overlooking Mt. Orford; the rooms are very spacious and extremely clean and they offer all necessary amenities; the spahhh speaks for itself. A full service very recommended establishment. Bravo to the staff.

While a charming location, the restaurant has undergone a melt-down as experienced by a disasterous lunch Sept. 21st, 2005. The service was slow, inexperienced and the maitre d'hôtel totally incompetent. The food was inedible (cold, stringy meat, poorly presented) and not what had been ordered. The leg of duck confit turned out to be a dry chicken leg on a bed of dry lettuce. The filet mignon and osso buco of bison, were accompanied by unusual cold vegetables such as carrot sticks and a slice of mushroom. While the restaurant publicizes an $8.95 lunch special, this applies to only 1 pasta dish. The meals ordered were in the $15-$19 price range and definitely not good value. The excuse offered was a new chef not yet familiar with the menu/kitchen. Definitely a restaurant to avoid!

We stayed at the Lion D'Or for 2 nights with the gastronomical package. The room that we originally were supposed to have was not really that great (18) so I asked reception and they gave us a nicer room no problems(6). The food is simply delicious, 6 course meals. I agree with the previous review that there are items that you can pay extra for, but the ones that are included are simply incredible. I have never had such great food in my life. Breakfast is nice too, you can choose from a variety of meals. The pool outside was nice and you are situated about 5 Km from Orford parc so there are plenty of activities during the day. I also tried out the spa and got a massage and it was very good (maybe even better than Eastman spa). If you like to eat and want to relax, this is a place where you can enjoy a nice romantic weekend.

We stayed at the Auberge au lion d'or for 1 night in August 2005 and we loved it. The food was the highlight of our stay. The dining room decor was nice, the service excellent, the staff very helpful. The price for our package (approx 200$ CAN including room, supper and breakfast for 2)was very reasonnable. The supper was a 6 course meal. There was a great variety to choose from on the menu. The only thing we did not like was the fact that there were a lot items on the menu which you had to pay extra. We chose food we did not have to pay extra for and it was excellent. The rooms were big and equivalent to a 3 star hotel. They have an outdoor pool with a patio were you can have a drink. I would highly recommend this Auberge if you are looking for an affordable place to go with great food!
