After reading several scathing reviews on this site, I was a bit worried about what to expect at MG. The criticisms I had heard- unclean, noisy, terrible service all turned out to be untrue. To put my opinion in perspective, I can't tolerate shabbiness, moldy smells, peeling paint, broken bathroom tiles... Our room was pristine. I'm thinking that it, and the entire wing we were in may have been recently renovated. Other than on New Year's Eve, we didn't hear a peep from the rooms next to or above us. On NY's Eve, we heard just a bit while the hotel was nothing special, the price/location were right and it fit our needs. of noise, which stopped by a little past midnight. One can hardly complain about folks celebrating on NY Eve, and it didn't bother us at all. The swimming pool was unexpectly lovely, subtle lighting etc... (though the water was chilly). The service was fine. The front desk was unable to find our reservations for the special New Year's eve dinner, and it was fully booked, but they managed to find us a table any way. However, in retrospect, this may not have been such good fortune because- and here's my one criticism - some of the food was worse than mediocre. The dinner we ate our first night was okay, but the elaborate and expensive NY's eve buffet/banquet was awful. I shelled out $100 for barely edible food. Even my daughter, whose never met a dessert she didn't like, thought that the desserts (there were dozens of them, and believe me, she sampled every one) were terrible. While theMG is nothing special, the price/location were right and it fit our needs. My advice, stay at MG, but eat somewhere else. One more thing- if you stay at MG, you absolutely must go dog sledding, an amazing experience, and it's a 5 min walk from the hotel.
