“Beautiful Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2011

We were very warmly welcomed and our room was spotless. The view from our window of Carrigafoyle Castle was absolutely stunning. The breakfasts were great as was the evening meal. The location of Castle View House suited us perfectly, being on an island meant no traffic noise so we had wonderful sleeps - but it was also very central to everything we wanted to see. Patricia & Garrett are wonderful hosts and we recommend them highly.

“Wonderful place with a very warm welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2011

We spent 6 nights in Castle View House and had a room with a beautiful view of the Carrigafoyle Castle. Patricia and Garrett welcomed us very warmly. The room with the little bathroom was not very big, but the big bed inside was very comfortable and we slept very well. There was a homelike lounge with a big TV and a burning fireplace. In the evenings we could sit on the cosy leather sofas, had some tea and planned our next trip. We could use the Wifi. Garrett often talked to us, gave us some helpful information or just told us something about his farming. It was a pleasure to talk to him. He was very mindful and polite. Patricia was also nice but she made the service in the backround and has not been seen so often. Breakfast was good and they tried to fulfill every desire. You can have homemade Dinner if you wish. We took it one time. It was served with soup and dessert and it was fine. The location of the Castle View House is not very central, the distance to Ballylongford ist about 3 km. But we had a car and for us it was no problem. Therefor you have a quiet place to relax. You can walk around Carrig Island and sometimes you have company of a little white dog. The castle opens to visit in June. Unfortunately we left before. But Garrett showed us some photos. We felt very familiar in this house and we would like to visit again. Greetings from Germany, A & A

“Neat B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2011

This B&B would definitely be perfect for a one night stay, just due to it's location being kind of off the beaten path. But that's also what makes it so special! To look out your window and see an old castle surround by water and land as far as you can see....when do you get to do that? Garrett and Patricia were very nice and welcoming. Garrett was friendly, asked us about ourselves and told us some stories about the history of his family and the island we were on. Which was a great start to our trip, since this was our first night. The room was decent, bathroom was a little small, but I soon learned that most bathrooms/showers are in Ireland, haha! We had a comfortable stay and slept well. Breakfast was really good, they asked us exactly what we wanted, so it was made to order. Their coffee was delicious! We also had dinner there since we got in so late and didn't want to venture back into town to try to find food. It was a little expensive as another reviewer mentioned, but it is homecooked, made to order food, so I didn't mind that much, especially after learning how expensive food was at restaurants anyway! Since it was winter, we didn't get to see all the lovely foliage around the property as the pictures show, but I can imagine that it's simply beautiful in the spring and summer! Their little lounge had lots of books to read by the fire on the comfy leather sofas! Free wireless internet worked well in our room which was great! Overall a wonderful experience, felt like part of the family.

“Highly recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2010

This is not the most modern place in the world, but what it lacks in facilities it certainly makes up for in other ways. Garreth was really welcoming and was friendly and helpful from the very start. It's a really nice location with fantastic views, but be warned you will need a car! The breakfast was really good, and again, our host couldn't do enough for us. Would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely bed and breakfast.
The location close to the Tarbert car ferry was very convenient.
Patricia and Garrett were very welcoming and hospitable.
We slept very well and loved the view from our window.
