We knew it would be a long drive from Jasper down to the Edmonton airport, where we were to be flying out of early the next morning. We wanted a competitively priced place that had close, convenient proximity to the terminal and on-site dining. In short, we were looking for a self contained sanctuary where would could consolidate our luggage and refresh ourselves after a long day.. The Nisku Inn suited our purposes admirably. The plainly furnished room had more than enough space to spread our things out and a very large(50 inch?) LCD screen TV was an unexpected treat. What we really liked was the interior atrium with it's pseudo-naturalistic pool/restaurant area. It was the kind of funky, off beat arrangement one just does not find at a motel chain.Part of the fun of traveling is running into the unexpectantly eccentric and unusual from time to time. The two on site restaurants served up some pretty good and, for Canada, reasonably priced menu choices. We ate at the "Lake House Restaurant" on the shore of the indoor "lake" next to the "waterfall" and enjoyed the Disney-esque whimsy of it all.
