“Great Service - Excellent Food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I have stayed at this hotel a few times now, by myself and with kids. Every single time, the service has been great and I've had no regrets making a booking at this hotel. The last time I stayed there a mistake had been made with my booking through Priceline (hit the wrong date) but it wasn't a problem and they didn't make me feel it was a problem. The biggest surprise has been the food. I never leave the hotel to go for dinner anymore because the food is outstanding. Don't let the white tablecloths scare you. The ingredients used are fresh, local and often organic. We found excellent choices for my vegetarian daughter (not always easy) and everything is always plated beautifully. The morning breakfast included with the room has an omelet station, waffles, cereal, fruit, pastries and juice. If you want to order additional meat or other items from the menu, that is available as well. My only complaint is that I can sometimes hear people above my room so next time will request a top floor. I will continue to stay at this hotel and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Request top floor for quietest sleep. They also have a new wing that I have not stayed in and I bel...

“As expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed in room 101 during a ski weekend and enjoyed the space and 2 queen size beds, but found the bathroom floor inexplicably cold. Slippers are in order for next time.

Pros: the service was excellent, with our requests for more cups and towels being met within fifteen minutes. Breakfast was simple but quite good, with wonderful custom omelets, DIY waffles and fresh fruit salad.

Cons: the hot tub wasn't working the first night, but a check in with the concierge mostly fixed that for the second night, when the water was decently hot and half the jets worked. The pool is small and we avoided it as per some families and their children splashing around...it's definitely not meant for doing laps.

We had dinner in the billiards room. The food was adequate but the drinks were excellent and our server was very attentive. I would steer clear of the "French Onion Soup", since it was more like gravy than soup and barely edible, but our server took it off the bill with no issue.

“Top Notch Service !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

Travel the island and find treasures along the way. This hotel is one of those treasures. Westerly offers its customers choices. From dining out, to looking for a night snack, to changing rooms. This hotel has class, warmth, and a friendly spirit.

The Greenhouse Restaurent, Snooker's Lounge and The Flying Canoe West Coast Pub are available for dining. We chose The Flying Canoe and my wife, who is a vegetarian truly enjoyed her marinated tofu with roasted vegetables and a miso sauce. She was in heaven. Great food, great service.

For a night snack, a hop, skip and jump across the road is a Saveway.

Our room had a wonderful king size bed; however, upon arriving my wife noticed the vending machine outside our room was making a terrible noise and worried about getting a good night sleep so she call the front desk agent Thomas Prevost, who made her feel very comfortable in requesting another room. Top notch service!

The free full breakfast is another truly amazing choice to have when traveling on business.

Next time we travel the island, we will make sure to visit our new found friends, Westerly and The Flying Canoe.

Room Tip: Top Floor and away from the elevator

What a treat. Not only does the Westerly offer clean comfortable rooms and great customer service, they now offer a pretty darn good Gluten Free Pizza in the Flying Canoe Pub. There are five pizzas to chose from. All are made fresh to order and can even be delivered to your room. Can't say enough about the staff and the free breakfast omelette was great too.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the bridge. You can hear the tires hum on the metal grate of the bridge de...

“Pleasant Stay, Good Amenities, Courteous Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Booked 2 adjacent rooms in the older part of the hotel (not the newer wing - we had a previous stay in this hotel located in the newer wing) - one room for my wife & I and one for my daughter & her two children (3-yr old boy and infant girl). Despite not being in the newer wing, the provided rooms were quite spacious and very nicely finished. Requested a foldout children's play pen/bed with blankets (for my grand-daughter) and extra blankets for the king bed, and received both promptly from pleasant staff. The hotel has nice amenities as I took the grandson for a swim the next morning, followed by relaxing time in the hot-tub while my wife slept in and my daughter sampled the free breakfast. The hotel had everthing we needed at a reasonable rate. Only one small issue - my daughter's room was on a corner of the building (meaning 2 walls were exterior walls versus the one standard balcony wall of an interior hotel room). This meant her room was noticeably cooler during the night that ours (it was a cold windy late-December night) and we could not get her thermostat to adjust any higher than 19C to warm the room (and while the thermostat said 19C, it didn't feel that warm - the thermometer App on my daughter's cell phone said the room temp remained closer to 17C). Not a major problem with the provided extra blankets but a bit annoying. We actually preferred the rooms in the older wing (in the rear of the hotel) versus the room we previously had in the newer wing - we found the enclosed causeway that joins the main building and older wing is quite convenient for accessing the pool, dining area, lobby, etc. (and the main lobby was nicely decorated for the holiday season). Overall - excellent value and a "pleasant stay".
