I've stayed in many bed & breakfast inns since I first traveled to England as a student in 1969. Without exaggeration, Greystone Manor was the best at which I've ever stayed. This beautiful turn-of-the century tudor style home has been lovingly restored by its warm and friendly owners, who have also created a delightful English garden on the spacious property fronting the house. I don't offer this praise idly; several other places we stayed on our 30 day trip through the U.S. Northwest and British Columbia will receive very poor reviews from me. In contrast, Greystone Manor succeeded on every count. First, the location could not be better -- exactly half-way up Vancouver Island, fronting the inside passage with views of the distant snow capped peaks of the mainland Coastal Range. Add to this a truly magnificent English-style garden landscaped and tended by the master of the house, which guests are invited to enjoy. Second, the rooms (due to the length of our stay, we stayed in two different ones) were spacious, comfortable, and quiet. Third, the beds were comfortable -- no complaints there. Fourth, the washroom/bathroom facilities were up to date and more than adequate. I particularly enjoyed the modern shower in the bathroom that went with our first room -- it was hands-down the best shower of our entire trip, bar none. Fifth, the breakfast was superb -- cooked freshly by the mistress of the house, using ingredients from their kitchen garden. I very much appreciated that it was not the overly fussy, heavy style of breakfast offered by many B&Bs these days. The owners, by the way, were two of the friendliest, most intelligent and interesting innkeepers I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Finally, the price was right. Not to put too fine a point on it, but I think we could easily have paid more elsewhere for an inferior experience.
Highest possible recommendation.
