“exceptional value, booked on PriceLine.com”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

My wife and I stayed at this motel for one night and overall, were very happy with our room.
Upon arrival, we were met with a smile from Margaret and were checked in very quickly and efficiently. We did have a reservation. The room was clean with two double beds. There was a coffee maker and a hair dryer, a television and telephone,(local calls are free). The sheets on the bed were snowy white and the pillows were nice and soft. The bathroom was clean, the fixtures sparkled and plenty of hot shower water.
Later, in the evening I asked Margaret if there is a good Chinese restaurant in town and she suggested we go to the supermarket across the parking lot where they have a good take out counter. We took her advice and bought some Chinese food and ate it in our room. I would highly recommend this. The food was very good and half the price of a restaurant.
In the morning we took advantage of the free continental breakfast and for the price of the room one can't complain except I would serve scrambled eggs instead of the ice cold hard boiled eggs that are available but, of course that would require a staff to look after that.

Room Tip: ask for quiet side of motel, away from the highway traffic

“No Bargain for Cleanliness”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I went for the internet pre-paid special. I got a dump in motel clothing. We arrived late (10pm) after a long day skiing and at first glance everything seemed ok - just a tired, run down room. I drew a bath for my 10 year old son and he called me in to the room. I thought he was going to mention the mold in the grout surrounding the tub, but he showed me the debris floating in and on the water. At first I was going to dismiss it, but as I looked closer I was appalled. There was entirely too many unidentified objects and several identifiable ones that I had to pull the plug. After that my cleanliness meter was running. I sniffed the pillows, checked the bed sheets, kept our bag zipped. Then the smell of an actively lit cigarette came seeping in. This lasted for several hours. This would explain the old smoke smell the room had under the cheesy chemical freshener scent. My son and I were both really tired so we went to sleep on very lumpy beds. An early morning trip to the bathroom revealed silverfish frolicking in the carpet and on the tiles. I also had a bite on my leg that was not there when I went to sleep.
The staff were very friendly older ladies and when we checked out at 7 am I thought better of complaining because I was just glad to leave noting to not fall for an internet bargain like that dump again. I was surprised because I did check trip advisor just for kicks to see what other travelers had to say and there was nothing to give me cause for caution. I wondered, however, if we were in a so-called "updated room" because it sure didn't look like it to me.
Well, I received an email survey asking how my stay was. I let them have it. I have still not heard from them so I'm writing this email to allow other travelers to be aware. If you want a bargain, be prepared for a dirty, filthy room.

Room Tip: Maybe the rooms are based on price for cleanliness? Definitely ask to see the room first.

“Always a great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We stay here whenever we visit the Comox Valley. Room always great. We travel with our Labrador Retriever and this place is perfect. Room on the backside are especially convenient if you need to take your dog out. The hotel is walking distance to everything you need: restaurants, bars, shopping, even a movie theater.

My only complaint would be about the WiFi...it was very slow and intermittent . Not sure if it was only in our area of the hotel or throughout. the property. We used the cable connection instead, and then it worked well.

“Very Hospitable and Friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

My wife and I have stayed here a number of times over the last few years, while on business. The location is great for us. The rooms are always spotless, although some are quite tiny. Considering the age of the building, everything is well maintained. A continental style breakfast is included with your stay - fresh pastries, cereals, coffee, tea and juice,,,oh and a boiled egg if you would like one!
What makes the place for us, is the hospitality and friendliness of all the staff; this is important to us as we usually stay for about ten days at a time. Quiet and comfortable.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad room in the house. All rooms are well back from busy roads. Staff...

“Good location, good hotel, pleasant staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

I travel to Courtenay/Comox several times a year and always choose to stay at this hotel. I find it's clean and quiet; and a recent bonus is the updating of rooms.
I make my reservations online, have never had an issue with that - and the staff are friendly and welcoming when I check-in or stop by the front desk.
I think the location is great with the Boston Pizza right next door, as well as other restaurants and amenities. I guess not much is far away anywhere in this community, but this hotel is stiking distance to anywhere. It's easy access to Island Hwy is a bonus too.
Good breakfast offered, plenty of parking, and a nice pool too.
