“Uncomfortable, cheap disappointment”

I booked through living social. We thought it was a good deal until we got there.

We arrived late at night, only to find they lost our reservation. The building is cheap. The amenities are cheap. looks like it was all slapped together in a hurry.

The beds are uncomfortable, the bathroom was dirty, the shower didn't drain properly.

The breakfast you should skip. This place seems to be suffering from an identity crisis.

The "hot-tub", is in a terrible location and looks like they bought the cheapest consumer model from Costco. Weak.

Oh, and then they call 2 months after our stay telling us we owe more money for our stay, because the managers and owners apparently have there head shoved somewhere.

Disappointing.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a shower that drains.

“A home away from home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 April 2011

What a wonderful place to stay. We were looking for a place to relax and enjoy some time together. The staff was amazing. The hosts Chad and Brooke made sure all the little things were taken care of. The food was fabulous and the rooms have absolutely everything you need. There is such a feeling of friendliness and caring that you can't wait for the next time you get a chance to come back.

“You must go, its amazing.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2011

We had stayed for 5 days for a leisure vacation and realized what a gem this place was.

First we arrived to a terrific welcome by Brooke, a grand tour and wonderful wood smell of the grand wall fireplace. After checking out the huge deluxe room, spa like bathroom and great view of kicking horse ski hill we went downstairs to Cork's Restaurant and were treated amazingly by the servers with wine and homemade bread! Corks Restaurant is a 12 table (i think) fine dining restaurant with a casual touch. Our dinner was amazing and afterwords went up to the main floor for after dinner wine sitting in the grand sitting room by crackling fire with our hosts Chad and Brooke. The next morning, breakfast was great. We had a fantastic omlette with homemade potatoes and pancakes with crunchy bacon. The assortment of fresh baked goods, cereals and juices were great as well as my boyfriend can eat everything!! That day my boyfriend went skiing under the guide of Chad who showed him all the sweet spots. The following days were a blur of hot tubbing, delicious food, new wines, skiing, shopping and just simply relaxing. The pub next door was decent for a pub but smelled like one too. The pub had a DJ playing that night and was fun to hang with fellow guests and other residents to the mountain.

Overall, the place was very clean, comfortable and the service was amazing. What makes this place great are Chad and Brooke who make this place rock. Also my recommendations go to the head chef who personalized my meal just for me, and was humble enough to come visit our table to ensure our dinner was great. And yes it was amazing.....

I recommend this place for all anniversaries, weddings and romantic gatherings or just a great place for friends to go skiing!!

I have already booked a trip back so that I enjoy more of this place!

OH and by having no children or pets it just made it so much better.!!!

“Beautiful property...a few disappointments though.”

We booked this deal through the "Living Social" special that went out this winter. I think they booked a lot of stays through this offer which meant it was a good value to ski and stay, but we had a few problems that are worth mentioning.

First and most important, this place does not allow kids. Apparently they have a policy somewhere on the website that "clearly states" children under 13 are not allowed. However, this policy was non-existent on the deal we booked through, nor was it raised in my telephone booking, nor was it found anywhere on the website which we reviewed before and after our visit. This meant the first time we learned of the policy was at 10:30 pm on the night we arrived. Fortunately, the manager realized this policy was not brought to our attention at the time of booking, so did not try to enforce the policy. For a hotel that promotes itself as a great place to host family gatherings - this policy seems odd.

The breakfast was excellent, and aside from the old televisions (which we really shouldn't be watching at a beautiful ski resort), the rooms were quite nice. We are not fans of feather beds, so we weren't impressed with the sleep, but luckily the pub is across the parking lot, so if you have a few drinks before bed you can get past that.

The service was inconsistent. At times they were really quite welcoming (breakfast was terrific), but as we got closer to checkout time, we could tell they wanted us out. For example, we attempted to take advantage of the hot tub (which actually was too hot - 113 ?!) at 10:40 am, and were quickly reminded that we NEEDED to be out by 11. Fair enough...the rooms need to be cleaned, it was just the extra attitude on the statement that bothered us.

Parting thoughts: we were left with a bad taste in our mouth and won't be returning, but it is a nice place...if you don't have kids...and are out by 11.

Thank you for your comments. We appreciate customers providing feedback so we can continually evaluate our service levels and I believe you have brought up some points that we can improve upon.

Our lodge is adult (13+ yrs) oriented during the winter season and will update the website and confirmation documents to reflect this. Although most people love our luxury mountain featherbeds, we do have alternatives for people with allergies or preferences, that are available by request, in advance. To keep up our strong housekeeping standards and as we have large spa style bathrooms, our housekeeper does need the required time to turnover rooms to be available for our next guests, on time.

We hope that you enjoyed your stay overall and understand we strive to provide the best service possible.

“Wonderful Experience”

Copper Horse Lodge is a quiet, cozy, beautiful lodge that sits in a little village just south of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. I went with my boyfriend and walking in we were very impressed with the atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and polite - they made us feel like we were staying at a friends. Our room was beautiful with large windows with an amazing view, tall ceilings, and an updated modern decor. The room was clean and equipped with everything that we would need for our stay. The king size bed was very comfortable, but my favourite thing had to be the multiple spray shower! Our stay here was relaxing, unique and over all just wonderful. Don't forget to check out the hot tub and the delicious restaurant down stairs!
