“Nice place / good restaurant / some shortfalls, ask for room with a view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 February 2011

Very nice setting, was just for 1 night

Arrived at noon, left luggage on car and went snowshoeing. Really beautiful scenery.

When returned, they gave us our room, and was a nice standard room with mini fridge, cofee maker, microwave.
The problem was that the room overlooked a wall!!!! (look at photos). Tried to change it, as when you go to a place like that you want to look to the mountains or woods, but they said they were full, and people that will arrive later will be there for 2 or 3 nights.

I booked directly with them, so the least they can do is tell you that some rooms have NO view, and charge accordingly, and not charge you standard price. Better yet, I asked for a Junior King suite, and they told me none available, so I reserved a queen room, so there they should tell you that it had NO view.

We went to have dinner, nice setting and nice menu, very good waiter service.
Good breakfast buffet, with nice variety (fruits/yogurth/cereals/eggs/pancakes etc)

Then some more snowshoe, and when we returned to make checkout there were a power shortage, and it looked like they did not have a power generator, so the computers were not working, and after 20 minutes after we got our luggage, still no light

At noon we left for Big white

“Horrible big rip off!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2011

The resort is old and really not kept at all. It is noisy and I found the room keeper did nothing on the day he/she should have cleaned the room but all they did was make the beds and empty garbage cans. First time I can recall not leaving a tip for room cleaning staff.
The pool smelled of urine ! The beds are hard as a rock and neither of us had really any sleep for both nights.
At the restaurant they had us wait for a menu as they were all being used. The place was about half full! The breakfast was buffet only and it was all fattening. One young lady we spoke with was very upset and got her poached egg swimming in vinegar.
The power went out! No internet service so be aware of that.
We found no value to this place what so ever and having travelled locally, domestically and abroad can honestly say this was one of the worst places we stayed.
TWO PROS: The chef made up some extremely healthy and huge sandwiches for our snowshoeing trip so hats go off to him!
The resort is right at the base of the hill and snowshoeing is at your door.

“great stop-over place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

We found the reception verry efficient and friendly. Our room was spacious ,and came with an extra table, four chairs, sofa, fridge etc. Perfect if you plan on staying say for a week. The restaurant, located in another blg.,while basic ,offers good value.( Our salmon dinner that night was excellent). Many of the staff we dealt with came from Australia and were very enthusiastic about their job.
There is much to do on the grounds, and the surrounding area offers many trails and beautiful sight seeing opportunities.

“A hidden gem of a resort only 2 hours from Vancouver, BC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2010

There is so much to see in Canada and so we often travel far and wide for our vacation; which is probably why we only got around to visiting Manning Park resort for the first time late this summer for our mini "stay-cation" during the week before the Labor day weekend, following a longer trip to Australia.

Located in the pristine beauty of the Cascade mountains, with lakes, meadows and forest or alpine trails suitable for all people, the resort itself is right off highway #3 midway between Hope and Princeton and offers a variety of amenities to match any other 5 star hotel. We hiked, canoed and swam in the outdoors and also found a private spot to suntan in the easily accessible alpine meadows nearly 1500 foot above the hotel. We also found time to enjoy the large indoors swimming pool and hot tubs in the late afternoon, before enjoying a quality dinner at the Pinewood restaurant. Some evenings we played pool or table tennis in the indoor entertainment center or just retired early after watching some US open tennis on our TV.

Although we were able to use the in-room fridge and microwave for some casual meals, we preferred to buy picnic sandwiches and coffee from the resort store which had a wide variety of supplies, before going out each day.

We will certainly consider coming back again to try the resort ski hill in December and maybe bring a group of our friends with us next summer. The cabins looked really impressive as well.

“Great Staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2010

My friend and I had to stay at this hotel after a disasterous attempt to put up a broken tent in the rain at a nearby campsite. The hotel itself is nothing extraordinary (excluding the beautiful surroundings) - older clean room with fridge, microwave and coffee maker - but the staff went out of there way to be helpful. They gave us supplies to try to fix our tent, and when that didn't work, gave us instructions on how to get to a great store in Hope (Cheyenne Sports) where the staff there fixed our tent for us! Forever grateful to all the wonderful people at Manning Park Resort.
