Let me make this very clear and honest: this IS A LOW-END HOTEL. I'm a practical vacationer with a wife and one toddler. We don't usually spend more than $150/night on a hotel, but when we do we expect clean, comfort, and good service. Here you get 0/3.
While it's true the service isn't awful, it's adequate at best. Not even close to excellent. The hotel is superbly placed at the end of Invermere's main drag and provides good access to downtown shopping and is within walking distance from the fabulous Kinsman beach. What more could you ask for?
How about a little comfort? At a glance the rooms appear to be adequately appointed, albeit severely dated and unbecoming. We found it very difficult to settle in though. The room just feels dusty, musky, and smokey. I am just getting over a cold and I actually feel sicker from being in this room! Despite being a non-smoking hotel, you'll smell lingering smoke that was saturated into the walls years ago, and now simply cannot be masked by any amount of sloppily applied paint. The yellow tinge shows through on the edges of the stipple, and splotches of white paint overlap onto the ceiling fixtures. On top of that, pure black liquid oozed out of the bathroom faucet here for about 3 seconds before the so-called clean water appeared. Siiiiick. Furthermore, the room doors provide virtually zero sound insulation. And I mean ZERO.
It's obvious that the owners see no need to rennovate the hotel. It fills to capacity every weekend of the summer. But there is a Super8 in town for about the same rates which is much cleaner, but is a good 6 minute drive from the beach. Location vs. cleanliness, you make choice! Next time mine will be cleanliness.
