My boyfriend and I are spending 5 days in Tigh Na Mara , for work and a little R&R whenever possible. We decided to bring our pet since the website said they can accommodate this, which meant we were given the guest cottage. We were given one overlooking the parking lot and gift shop near the entrance, which had zero privacy since everyone entering the resort would look right into the main window as they passed by, so we had to pack up and move to another room the next day, not sure why they didn't offer us the better room up front, and leave the least desirable room until they were fully booked, but they did accommodate us and were very friendly about it. The 2nd one was better situated and had a slightly larger layout but the bedroom was so small you could barely walk next to the bed, which was not even a queen size, so my boyfriend had to sleep on the futon couch as he is 6'4 and just wouldn't fit.
The property is a log cabin, very quaint and cute, but very dark you need to have the lights on even in the daytime with the curtains open. It was pretty well equipped but very dated and in need of updating, it's a step above camping in the cottages, which would be fine if that was what we were looking for. The cottages are also built in such a way that cars and staff on golf carts are continuously driving by, very noisy and lacks privacy. I think if you have a dog and it is important to bring him along the cottages are a good option, but I would not recommend them for anyone seeking any kind of luxury. My husbands colleagues are staying in the rooms facing the beach since they do not have their pets with them, and said it's quite fabulous...so just know what you are signing up for if you take a cottage.
Internet connection was very slow also made it hard to work while we were here.

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your feedback. Tigh-Na-Mara takes all comments very seriously those posted on Trip Advisor as well as those garnered through our regular comment cards.
The cabins are the most rustic of accommodation units we offer however are more private and feature a wood burning fireplace which many of our guests really enjoy - especially during a chilly West Coast Winter. The cottages are also the room type which can accommodate pets as you have indicated.
We have completed extensive renovations in the cottages including adding additional lighting, new drapery and appliances. In addition the 2 bedroom cottages now feature dishwashers! The beds are a regular queen size, however I am sorry to hear your boyfriend was not comfortable. Next time you are traveling without a pet, may I suggest you consider a Spa Bungalow Suite which features much more living space and the option of a king bed.
Our wireless internet service has had intermittent issues, however we are currently installing a new wireless system which will provide faster more efficient service for our guests.
Thank you again for your feedback, we look forward to welcoming you back again soon!
