My kids are already begging to return. Wolf made our stay extraordinary with freshly picked plums upon our arrival and raspberries he let the kids help pick on our departure. Our host was warm and helpful; he even made coffee for us at 6:30am!

I stayed here 2 years back enroute to Tofino and this year as well, the Tsunami Backpackers guest house was my top choice. Reasons - 1) Best price. 2) Safe. 3) Well-kept 4) Homely atmosphere. 5) Good food - home baked bread is awesome (give 4 hours notice), home made jam and home grown fruits are lovely :)

Staying in tofino is very expensive and this place is only an hour's drive away from Tofino. If staying in Tofino is not a must for you, I strongly recommend staying here. Do book in advance though :)

This guesthouse is a very quiet place. Very hard to find from the road (we arrived by night), you're not sure you're at the right place until you meet the host ! Then, everything is really pleasant.
The house itself is really cozy and clean. The breakfast is very cheap, it's good (try the home-made bread and jam !). And the host is very obliging. If you need anything for your stay, he's the good person to ask !

Tsunami Backpackers Guesthouse is a perfect stopover for anyone making the long drive from Vancouver to Tofino. After a tiring day at work and a crowded ferry ride, we arrived in Port Alberni very late on Friday night. Our host, Wolf, was welcoming and gracious despite the late hour of our arrival and made us feel right at home. The atmosphere is laid-back but the rooms are clean and we slept comfortably, the cool island air put us right to sleep. We woke up in the morning to the wonderful aroma of fresh bread, which Wolf baked for us himself. We ate our breakfast out on the balcony which overlooks Wolf's amazing organic garden. While we were eating, he picked us some of the best plums, raspberries and salmonberries we've ever tasted. It was the perfect way to start our vacation!
