“Bed Bugs Confirmed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

people found this review helpful

My boyfriend and I stayed in ROOM 238 the nights of Jan 12, 13 & 14, 2012 and were exposed to bed bugs. My bites didn't show up until Sunday night (the 14th), my boyfriend noticed a few Saturday but initially assumed they were spider bites.

We called the GPL and they were actually pretty good about it. They acknowledged that they'd had a problem with bed bugs in ROOM 236 but that they'd had an exterminator in to deal with the problem (clearly unsuccessfully). They've asked us to send pictures and advised they should be able to refund us (we're still working on this).

So if you're plannign to stay at the GPL be sure to ask them about this issue when you book and take precautions (inspect for bed bugs in your room when you arrive - near the headboard, lamps, desk etc.).

Thanks for your feedback!

We would like to confirm that the bed bugs issue has been long resolved through rigorous efforts by exterminators. We are perplexed ourselves as to how this issue may have surfaced as we provide constant servicing of our facilities, but in any event, we are disappointed that this may have resulted in a negative experience for you at our lodge.

“Bed Bugs!”

beware! during a two night in Jan 2012 multiple bites, staff disregarded and told me it took bites two weeks to present so it couldn't have been from their hotel. Took them to the room and showed them one of the now dead bugs and the blood smears from bites while I was asleep and they refused to acknowledge it was their problem. Avoid if possible until further notice!

Thanks for your feedback! We can happily confirm that bed bugs are no longer an issue at Glacier Park Lodge. Despite our confusion at this matter surfacing due to our regular servicing of facilities, we have invested greatly in thorough extermination measures to ensure that no further guests will be affected by this issue. We apologise if this experience interfered in any way with your trip to the beautiful Glacier National Park.

“Great base for backcountry access”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

We had some rough road conditions on the way back from a backcountry ski trip, so ended up staying at the Glacier Park Lodge. I have a lot of memories of stopping at this lodge on many a road trip, and always thought it was a bit of an odd place, with all the stuffed animals and its strange little gift shop.

Staying here did not change my perception of it being a bit of an odd place, but I walked away with a much better impression of the place.

The rooms were reasonably priced for what you got, especially given that it was the holiday season. Rooms were clean and staff were friendly, if a little run off their feet. The place is clearly run by a family and it was often the same person checking us in, serving food and beer in the lounge/restaurant, cleaning the rooms, and bussing the tables. Service was a little slow, but it wasn't for lack of effort, and it was always friendly.

Room was pretty basic with two double beds. Decor was dated but it kind of matched the quirkiness of the place. Bathroom decor was also dated but it had been well-maintained and was clean.

Lounge chairs were worn, but it worked out well for the crowd in the room, which were clearly mostly backcountry skiers. Avalanche gear and snowshoes can be rented from the hotel for $5/day, which is a pretty sweet deal if you're planning on joining a group on one of the easily accessible backcountry trails from the hotel.

Would definitely consider it as a base for future ski trips into the backcountry, when there is no need for frills.

“Last resort”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Uncomfortable bed, too-hot room, outdated furnishings, tacky gift shop, out-of-order hot tub. The bath tub in our room had a slow leak. Despite the rule against cooking in rooms the hallway reeked of garlic. All in all the place was over-priced and uncomfortable. The only way I'd stay here again is in an emergency.
On the positive side, it was quiet and the shower had strong pressure.

“Wonderful location and a cute hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

Several trails begin from right next to the lodge. The location is fantastic. They also have a working sauna. Rooms are pretty basic but spacious. Internet is really slow but that's good because you must be outdoors when you visit Roger's pass. Restaurant has good breakfast.

Room Tip: No lift. So for people with limited mobility, main floor is the best.
