There is one single word describing this hotel - it is DATED. Someday at the better times (in the 1950s) I guess it was a nice hotel on the way from Vancouver to beautiful Rockies. Not any longer. All carpets are well worn (and you may see even holes in the lobby). The bathrooms are painted with the horrible pink color and the tiling was finished a century ago. The whole beauty of the old wooden hotel was killed when a new owner opened a gift shop fenced with the bars. There were not such a thing as bads in the rooms. Instead we had mattressess put right on the wooden packing boxes from the store. They also used tiles to keep soap instead of standard bathroom accessories. So it is cheap cheap cheap for a relatively high price. The breakfast was fairly good though as well as the staff. I rank it 7 out of 9 hotels I have visited during my trip in BC and AB.
