Finding accommodations during the busy summer season when you travel with a pet can be very trying. We had planned on a 4 day/ 3 night stay near Victoria, BC but finding a hotel that wasn't a dump or extremely overpriced was difficult - that is until I considered staying in Sidney. As it turns out Sidney is a short drive from downtown Victoria and was a mere 15-20 minutes from our intended destination area.
The Cedarwood Inn & Suites accepts pets and is in an ideal, easy-to-get to location along the waterfront in Sidney. I did research and then called the hotel to find the best prices / room configuration to fit our family and mid-sized dog. I highly recommend that if you can, you should call the front desk to make the reservation as what I found on a booking website doesn't tell the full story. The staff are extremely helpful and go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. We enjoyed staying here so much that our 3 night stay stretched into 4.
The room we stayed in was on the first floor and we could park right in front of it. It's a 2 double bed in a bedroom, pull-out sofa in the main room suite. All rooms have full kitchen and these are very well stocked. I was able to cook dinner several nights and had all of the utensils, pans,...Finding accommodations during the busy summer season when you travel with a pet can be very trying. All rooms have full kitchen and these are very well stocked. I was able to cook dinner several nights and had all of the utensils, pans, etc. that I needed. The main room was very comfortable with a rustic, beach-y feel to it. Like so many places in the area, there is no air conditioning but we didn't need it. The windows open to catch the breezes off the water. Housekeeping kept the room neat and tidy for us each day and except for a hiccup (missed the trash cans one day), they did their job well. Some people mentioned the wood decor & some of the furnishing to be dated but for us, the most important item is cleanliness. We felt at home here at the Cedarwood with comfy chairs/sofa and warm, cozy surroundings. I've been to many an updated hotel and they don't always compare well. It's the staff & especially housekeeping who make your stay a pleasant one.
The Cedarwood is located across the street from the waterfront and very close to the ferry. It's an easy walk to the grocery store, stroll along the waterfront, and find interesting shops in downtown. We took advantage of the gorgeous weather to enjoy sunsets, wander paths & enjoy the surroundings. Sidney is a new favourite place to stop.
I would highly recommend the Cedarwood Inn & Suites as a place to stay. The prices are a reasonable value given the area and accommodation and the fact they accept pets is a big bonus.More
