We recently arrived at this place at check-in time with a prepaid confirmation just to be told that there had been a management change, and....they were no longer accepting "guests".

During my lifetime I have traveled all over the world. This has got to be THE POOREST OF THE POOREST.....!!!

They didn't even bother to refund my money....until I insisted. BEWARE....!!!

This was a wonderful place to spend our Honeymoon in 2006, and we were booked to come back for our anniversary in September. Sadly, this afternoon the resort called and let us know that they were closing on September 15th.

So sad that such a wonderful inn had to shut down.

Miraloma on the Cove is the Bellstar Resort property in Sidney, Vancouver Island and is located north of downtown in a quiet neighborhood. It's location means that most eating ( with one exception- The historic Latch next door) and entertainment is a moderate drive, cycle or walk into town. The property is a small ( 22 rooms) boutique hotel situated between the water, a working boatyard and a neighborhood. It is about 12 years old and is well maintained. The public areas are attractively decorated and furnished; the property offers free secure parking, an outdoor spa and a small exercise room and sauna. Check in and check out was top notch- friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. An upgrade continental breakfast was included in the rate- beverages, carbs, yogurt, and some fresh fruit. The rooms are large, very well appointed and properly maintained. They have a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, Keurig coffee maker and eating utensils. Our room did not have the flat screen TV yet, but there was a good selection of channels, free internet and CD / radio with CD's. The bed and linens were very good quality. The bath was large, including shower and tub, with good towels and ammenities. Our deck looked out on the bay across the driveway- very pleasant indeed. The rooms facing the gardens and the public decks would also be pleasant whenever the working boat yard's heavy equipment was not operating- which it was when we were eating breakfast, pretty much drowning out the beauty of the garden side of the property. If you want to be right among the shops, entertainment and eateries you will likely want to move downtown. If you want a quiet base of operations for exploring Sidney and the Saanich penninsula, this a good property at a fair value..

We had originally planned to spend four nights at the Miraloma, but were so happy with the place that we asked to extend our stay by one night. It's in a great location. It's peaceful and located right on the cove.We liked staying in Sidney. It has a much slower pace and was a great location to use as a base for our travels around the Saanich Peninisula. The staff is great and provided us with help figuring out ferry schedules and getting us the Vancouver airport on time. Repeat travelers also get a 15% discount so we will be back.
