“Good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

After reading some of the reviews here we were hesitant to stay there but when we were there it was pretty good. Rooms are clean and spacy, good location, friendly staff, breakfast is good enough, no complaints. There were a few bugs but it's in the middle of woods and it was summer so what's the big deal? Some reviews described the hotel terribly and I think it wasn't fair. I would recommend it.

“Dirty and Overpriced”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2010

I thought this hotel was overpriced and the bathrooms were dirty. The rooms smelled musty. The free breakfast was a joke and no where to eat it. For the price paid I expect better, unfortunately we were booked in for a wedding so had no choice but to stay. Would never go there again.

“Staff go the extra mile to please.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2010

We stayed at this Travelodge while attending a wedding in Bracebridge. The rooms, though older were very clean, the staff were very helpfull, especially Kate at the front desk. The continental breakfast was adequate, although a table to eat at would be nice. We would stay here again.

“state of disrepair & dirty, well past its best before date”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2010

We arrived Aug 14 @ 179 / night.for 2 nights. The carpet was filthy, nervous to sit on the chairs as the fabric was so solied. All linens & towels thread bare, & unraveling, floor dirty, comforters stained, & when i called the desk the young girl stated did you do it ?? I replied " no we just arrived" On one occassion when she was coming to our room for another issue, we asked if she could please bring us some extra towels, her response " no, there arent any maids working " The grounds were unkept, overgrown with weeds, the pool had earth in it, appeared run down & dirty, weeds all around the pool area, the tap to rinse feet wasnt operational. The table & umbrella were ripped, the lamp in our room wasnt working lamp shade dinted, smell of mould.................... the list goes on, definately not a 5 star facility, maybe 1 star @ best. I have lodged a formal complaint with Travelodge & am awaiting their response. This facility is worth 69 - 79/ night @ the most. Its a bad sign when patrons are gathered in the parking lot discussing their distaste with their accomadations. Interestingly I was here in 2003, & it was satisfactory 7 yrs ago, but I dont think any upkeep has been done since it changed ownership. I wanted this to be a special trip for my 6 yr old daughter, as it was her first visit to Santas Village, since her dad passed, this definately wasnt a pleasnat experience.Make alternative arrangements !!!!!

“Run the other way!!! Substandard , unsanitary & rude manager!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

We are extremely disappointed with the Travelodge in Bracebridge, Ontario and believe we were mislead, overcharged and treated poorly by the acting manager “Dev Patel”. We also have been left with the distinct impression that this location is not worthy of the Travelodge & CAA endorsements.

We believe the quality was substandard for the following reasons:
1- Upon arriving we needed to use the restroom facilities. We found the office washroom dirty, old underwear left on the floor & the toilet would not flush.
2- Our bedding had obvious stains on all sheets & on the comforter.
3- The bath tub had mold growing on the caulking & more than acceptable amount of hairs left in it.
4- The toilet was not cleaned properly with mould growing in the corner.
5- Our double bed had a frame had loose bolts causing every movement to have a distinct metal on metal screech.
6- The outdoor pool was not cleaned properly & had black earth with other debris floating in it. Not normal pool debris.
7- Our room mini-fridge was leaking water onto the floor.
8- The website for this location features pictures from the hotel when it was owned by the previous owner and in better condition. If the pictures were updated we would have passed on this location.
9- While in the parking lot after our ordeal another lady had asked us how our experience was because when she checked in she noticed her bedding was stained & unsanitary. Upon calling the receptionist said in an accusing tone “Well what have you done to it?” She has said she will also be writing Travelodge headquarters to complain.
10- The size of the room & quality was in my experience should have been priced at $70 dollars per night, not $150.00 plus.
11- The mattresses are obviously very old & uncomfortable. Both my wife & I woke from a poor sleep with aches & pains. We are under 30!!! Not normal for us!!

Poor customer service (is an understatement):
1- Upon arrival the manager said we did not pre pay our stay and in a disbelieving tone said he would look into it. We had confirmation four months in advance on the credit card statement.
2- During the package confusion, the manager looked us straight in the eyes and accused us of not reading & understanding the package details in advance. To sum it up he said it is our entire fault, none of his concern and he got his money so he wouldn’t even entertain the thought there could be any misleading on their part. I may have well been talking to the back end of a donkey. I would have got a better response!
