“Stay away from Weiner Lodge"”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2010

Sheets were 50% polyester which is like sleeping on sandpaper. Even Holiday Inn, Ho Jo etc have cotton sheets.

Hallways and rooms stank like ten years of old people cooking and not doing laundry.

No WiFi --> even McDonald's has free WiFi.

No trail maps or guide to village eateries provided - had to use our phone to connect to the internet to view online.

No staff onsite --> no fire in the lobby fireplace (it was xmas!) also NO ONSITE SKI STORAGE - we were directed to a property on the other side of the village to drop off/pick up snowboards.

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2010

Just got back from staying at the Weider Lodge at Blue Mountain and it was disappointing. Hadn't been at the Village in a few years but it was not as clean as I remembered. Rooms were slightly run down and not very clean. Hallways had crumbs and bad odor. Pool was cold and not clean. Was there for 3 days and didn't see any staff monitoring the pool chlorine levels once or any staff cleaning the grounds at all. Restrooms near the pool were disgusting. Village itself was great as always, I just don't recommend this particular property.

“Good overall stay at Weider Lodge but beware of time share pitch!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2009

We stayed 2 nights at this lodge and overall it was a good experience. The 'suite' we stayed in was clean and nicely decorated. The queen bed and sofa bed were very comfortable, and they provided enough pillows and blankets for a family of four. The lobby, hallway, exercise room and the swimming pool is very well maintain.

Now the negative. We went swimming at the 'Plunge' swimming pool (included with our package) which is adjacent to our lodge. Although my son had a good time there, I didn't think it was worth it. A family day pass is $42 (two adult and two children) and the pool is nothing more than a swimming pool. The children play area is small and the soft bottom floor of the pool need serious repair. We were there on Friday and the place was pack and very difficult to swim. Furthermore, they charge non swimmer $5 to sit and watch their family swim!!

After swimming, we walked around the village and an older gentleman who works for Club Intrawest approached us and told us about a great deal the resort is offering. For only $199 including tax, you can stay at a Intrawest property at Blue Mountain, Mont Tremblant or Whistler Blackcomb for 3 nights within the next 14 months. He was really pushy and shoved the sign-up form at me. I told him we'll think about it and he told us he'll leave and return in 10 minutes for an answer. He left and we also left. I later check the Club Intrawest website and the old guy neglected to tell us that part of the deal was a mandatory 90 minute time share seminar during that stay. Yes, those annoying high pressure sale tactics seminar they put you through for 2 hours. Been to one of those before and the next time I go to one of those is over my dead body. So beware.

“The place was a bit chintzy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2009

A group of friends and I booked into the 'village' for a fun weekend getaway. We were assigned a 3 bedroom suite in the Weider Lodge and it is VERY tight for 6 people, let alone the fact that it sleeps 8. This is my second time staying at the WL in a 3 bedroom suite. I'm not crazy about the building and would have preferred The Grand Georgian - however you have no choice in the matter and they will assign you your hotel at check-in. That could be GG, WL or Seasons.

Check-In - You have to stop at the GG to check-in and get a parking pass. There is no staff manning the front desk at the WL. If you need to speak to someone in-person, you have to walk back to the GG desk. The WL is a bit of a ghost town, very little action.

The Pool - Closed until further notice on the day we arrived, a bit of a bummer. We were told to trek it over to the GG pool, which of course was PACKED because you have families from two FULL hotels cramming into it.

Check-Out - Wow! They really give you a hard time about late check-out. Regular check-out is @ 11 AM, which is quite early in the hotel world. We had to call and ask three times before we got it bumped up to Noon. I wonder if anyone was even checking in on a Monday evening?

The Room - The place seems to be getting a bit rundown. The towels feel like sandpaper and are the thinnest I have ever seen. No conditioner - just 'conditioning shampoo'....I hate that! Especially for a $400/night suite. Only 2 complimentary newspapers were found in the lobby @ 6 AM and they were gone fast. The TV is not a flat screen and barely picked up 10 channels! The on-demand movie button didn't work, we called down to get it fixed, they brought a new remote and even rebooted the system but it still didn't work. The comforters on the bed were also looking a bit worn/frayed and even stained.

My recommendation is to pay just a little bit more and stay at Mosaic - which is much newer and more modern. Plus you don't have to wait for a hotel assignment, you know you'll be in here. I think the service might also be a lot better @ The Westin too.

“OK for a weekend getaway”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2008

Pros:
Beautiful resort location
Tastefully decorated room with kitchenette and soaker tub
Next to ski hill - chairlift is at front door
Charming pedestrian village with shops, restaurants and bars
Excellent service

Cons:
Lumpy, uncomfortable bed
Big grease stains on carpet
Ski hill is pretty wimpy - it's certainly no "mountain"
