I booked a 2 night stay in the beginning of February as a little getaway for my 2 boys and my husband - to celebrate his birthday. I had really high expectations having heard so much about this infamous resort. When I initially booked, I was told that the pond hockey tournament was that weekend, but when we arrived, we found out that it was cancelled due to the weather. A bit unfortunate, but these things happen... The resort is okay, we've stayed at much nicer winter resorts. The main reception area is quite nice and gives an illusion of grandeur, however when we actually drove to the one bedrom condo that we booked, we were disappointed (The Greens, Building 32). The condo had a great view - we were able to see cross country skiers, snowmobilers and people going down the snowtubing hill. The decor, however, is extremely dated (maybe the 80's?). I checked the picture on the website while we were there and while it looks quite simliar, it really doesn't show you its age. Normally, we aren't too fussy about the about the esthetics, but when you're paying over $500 for 2 nights, you expect more. That, coupled with the fact that they didn't have a lot of activities for young children meant we spent more time in the condo than we would have liked. We did spend some time in the pool, which was pretty nice but the changerooms had carpet (being a health inspector, carpets in "wet" areas are usually not recommended because it can't be thoroughly cleaned). We also had a chance to go snowtubing on our first day, but after a few runs and climbing up the hill with the snowtubes and little ones, we WERE tired. A lift, similar to Rockridge, would be appreciated.
Would we book again? Perhaps... when the boys are older and they are able to participate in more actvities, and after renos are done to give the condos a facelift. It really is disappointing considering we heard such great things about the place. We did find out that most of the activites for young kids are during Family Day and March Break.

Mich&Cam. Your comments are important to us and we want you to know that several renewal projects are actually underway or recently completed at Deerhurst. We have completely renovated 100 junior one-bedroom suites and all our main building guest rooms have recently received a refresh as well. In addition, we are in the process of mapping out a renovation plan for the multi bedroom condos that we manage on behalf of private individual owners and are confident further renovations will be completed soon. While recognize that doesn’t change your experience, we do want you to know we are actively working with our new owner, Skyline Hotels & Resorts, and all our property stakeholders to ensure all our offerings meet guest expectations.
