We stayed as part of a group, with somewhere in the neighborhood of 6-8 rooms.
Here are the noteworthy good things regarding the hotel.
Right off Route 12. Within walking distance to Walmart, a dollar store, Mark's a clothing store, and Ryan's restaurant. Downtown Midland is roughly 4 km away. Penetang about 8 km. Courteous staff. Plenty of parking for trucks, cars, and campers. BBQ Grill area was huge. Internet access. With cable tv, had access to about 50 channels, pretty standard. Very easy to pack/unpack. Only a 2 level hotel, but no elevator.
Here are the poor things in general with experience among the group.
The staff wasn't able to coordiniate with our different guests among the group. Typically a group is under one name, or a host of names, which are all provided at time of making arrangements. In this instance first contact was made in April, and stay was in June. The group rate was higher than the special found on choicehotels.ca. Group rate quoted was $112, but special offer LWOW was $89 a night. The staff was able to find some confirmation of reservations, but not others. Every member of the group had issuing with getting the $89 rate. Quotes from the staff ranged from, "this is going to get me fired," to "we can't find your group, at all." Problems with the rooms we stayed in, ranged from large army ants on the wall/celing, to dog hair on the bedspreads, and multiple smells of various pets depending upon which room, and level you were on.
This is a pet friendly hotel, and there aren't many hotels to choose from in Midland, ON. It may be the best hotel in Midland, but given any other reasonable location I am disappointed to say it fails in comparsion to the most peoples standards.
I did as a courtesy to the hotel report all the concerns to the GM.
She was most respectful and kind.
